Joe Ofahengaue #240

So we get rid of a class forward and the club says nothing, they are not trying to bring the fans along with whatever there trying to do , don’t want deals just maybe a wait and see , u fans will be happy would do , and if they haven’t locked in a player why let JOFFA go , to those rotten PIGS

I really hoped that this wouldn’t eventuate. Thanks for your efforts Joe, I wish you all the best for the future but I don’t wish the best for Parra.
I really dislike this immediate release to Parra & would like to know what we get out of helping them out, we owe Parra no favours. Unless they have a great replacement lined up I can’t see how an immediate release is a good idea. We need to cover injuries.

He has been great for us but I completely understand releasing him. We need to actively manage the cap.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that we're well under the cap this year, so I don't understand what we get out of this? I would understand it more if this happened at the end of the season.

Best of luck anyway Joffa, an absolute legend that brought some passion to the club when it was needed. Will definitely be missed!

IMO it’s not about this year. It’s about freeing up his $650k in 2024 and 2025, freeing up a top 30 roster spot and providing a clear path into the top 17 for a young player in the future, presumably Chris Fa’agutu.

We don’t need anything in return from Parra because the club is happy with the above.

I’m not saying it’s right or wrong but I believe that’s the club’s thought process. Sheens has always been very good at providing a clear pathway to bring junior talent through to first grade.

So maybe frontloading contracts for 24/25 ?

Same reasons as players were released without replacement last year I’d say, to make sure we can get the spoon

things have been going too well this last month..

There is a clear need to drag down the morale of the team.. we were in danger of handing the spoon off to another team

While we knew it was coming...
Only WT could give the fan base news that most arent happy to hear the week after one of our best ever performances as a club.
Will wait to judge this decision after seeing what they do next.
Also, while I understand it’s a business, helping Parra out is unpalatable. Particularly after the way they have routinely treated our club in recent years.

we all agree it’s distasteful … but they still did it?

What gives?

It just defies logic
