LIVE GAME Round 14 vs. Raiders

Live Game Discussion
If Api is accused of over playing his hand it's because he has had to step up to be a leader because..... it's all been said.
Just like Farah did, and Benji did when he came back into the squad both who were ridiculed for it. All leaders will over play their hands at times but you have to have one on the field and the benefit for this team far outweighs any negative.

Earl, you just changed your name back from "luke brooks #1 fan," This was you on another thread just a short while ago too: don't speak to me about bias

I did this because it was so obvious that Brooks was just a scapegoat and it had nothing at all to do with his performances.
"Brooks has been great. I honestly think we lost the game because we didn't go to him enough." Haha

No joking at all. He has been fantastic this season. He started slow but he was injured in the pre-season

Edit: thought he played okay for the record. That
last set of 6 with game on the line was criminal

Whose fault was it. Go and watch the game and it was happening prior to this. It was all on Api. He just overplayed his hand and went the wrong way way too much. Brooks had to go searching for the ball when he is and was clearly the guy most likely to create something. Despite this he ran over to get the ball and kicked a field goal with 5 minutes to go. Then Nofo and IP made massive mistakes to lose us the game.

You could have replaced Brooks name in your post with any other player plus you have no idea what he or anyone else stated.

Your post on that point was completely and utterly absurd.

Fair enough, whilst I don't fully agree with you
I understand where you're coming from mate

I think we made a mistake by not having Api on from the start. Service from Simpkin was crap. How do the coach's know Api did not have another 10-15 minutes in him. Similar situation with Gold Coast. Tino was left on the bench to start and when he came on he killed them. Fifita came on very late and could not get into the game. I believe you should take every advantage you have got from the start.

You’ve proven on here indelibly that you are, in fact a sheep.
Really? I don’t go with the flow in thinking the NRL is systematically cheating us most weeks.
You tin foil weirdos are the sheep, dancing to the narrative set by Sheens to mask the failings of this team who should be doing far better.

We won’t pay overs, but this romantic idea that we can re-sign him at a greatly reduced salary is very much wishful thinking for mine.
His next contract will be his last big one. He has just started a family. Be prepared, we’re paying around a mill/year if we get him at all.
We’ll see. Hopefully we’re not going to pay a million a year, that would be ridiculous.

The guy isn’t playing that poorly. As a running half he is contributing well, creating the odd chance. Pretty sure he has run over 200m three times this year. Not elite, but will attract interest at contract time.

Has anyone mentioned the clear forward pass from Canberra the play before their last try.

The tough judge was in line only and two metres away from it
There eyes are painted on, touches are useless and obsolete in the modern game.

I hope we don't start tearing down our team after an unlucky loss by 1 point !
Fact for last 6 weeks Raiders have been close to best performing team
They slowed our ruck down and although copped a few repeat sets against them it worked as we lost momentum
In the end it was 3 tries each , one of theirs was lucky not to be overturned .They couldn't make line breaks and all their tries were from kicks and lucky that the rebound off the pads was just perfect for them .No matter what you cannot predict exactly where the rebound is and they just got lucky
Weve still got a very good team maybe a bit more depth needed

Is it just me but in WT games the bunker seem to only have a couple of looks at opposition scoring try's against us.
Can't look too closely, they could find something wrong with it like a push in the back or some other professional foul by the attacking side.

Even worse when we score a try and they don't even send it up for a look and just award the opposition a 7 tackle set because they assume the ball went dead off us.

For those that don't remember that howler: Luciano try vs Worriers last season.

That one was our referee mate Ziggi, who incidentally was running the sideline at Cambo on Friday night with the Badge's Mrs on the other sideline.

Nah can't agree it was the coaching. Canberra nullified us with their defence - effort and attitude. The same thing happened to Cronulla against Broncos tonight. Cronulla one of the best attacking teams in the comp had plenty of opportunity but were stifled by great defence and couldn't execute effectively.
That’s one of our games this year, tigers have been poor all year with stats suggesting they should be winning

Am still burning over the inept decision of the Brooks shove that led to the Raiders try

With all the technology the nrl, bunker have these days, how on earth did they miss it???

It will take me a least a while to get over

Sheens said he'd talk to Annesley on Monday... It will be interesting to hear what Annesley has to say about this... Surely he can't ignore it and if he doesn't mention it I'd say sheens hasn't said anything to him

That is a fair recount on what happened, although quite pessimistic. The other side is the ref and video peanut allowed a blatant push in the back on brooks to go unpunished, that led to a try. I believe a shoulder in the back of tupou as he was taking a bomb without looking at the ball once, that led to a try (no difference to the Walsh incident the other nite).
Not to mention 8 continual ruck infringements on their line that only gave them a sinbin late in the game! Which was an obvious tactic to stop our roll on. And the fact that we won every single stat in the game except kick meters. The fact thet every try they scored came off kicks, with a strong element of luck involved! I think that is the reality, of a team coming off a wooden spooners we did pretty good. Could we do better, sure but again remember they had won 6 from the last 7 games.

I disagree with you on the push in the back from Brooks. Watching it live at the ground, I was screaming bloody murder. Having calmed down the next morning and watching the replay, I felt that Brooks was slowing down in an attempt to impede the chaser, so he was fair game.

He definetly stopped and it could be argued he was trying to impede the chaser. It could also be argued he was steadying himself to react to the bounce off the post and collect the ball. He never changed his line.
I don’t know why he wasn’t screaming blue murder and demanding it be looked at. I have a feeling they’ll explain their way out if it.
