All the players know you CANT TOUCH THE KICKER. There is no excuse. I don’t agree with it but that’s the rule. Paps cost us the game.

Just a brutal loss...
I rarely blame refs, but Raiders laid all over us to slow the ruck ALL game...should have been binned way earlier.
And how on earth was the try where Brooks was pushed hard...both hands in the back...as clear as daylight...not even checked.
Add in we had a three man overlap on that last play...and won all the stats...and they had barely a single line break....arghhhh.
Painful one. Really, really, painful.

The refs weren't great, but every stat favoured us massively. If we make 7 line breaks to none, nearly double their meters, a third of the missed tackles, and win the set restarts 8-0, I'm not blaming the ref for the loss. We stuffed up so many breaks with dropped balls and poor execution. We did enough to overcome their 'slowing the ruck' tactics to have scored 30+ points. The fact that we didn't is on us, not the refs.
The points We scored could come in handy at the end of the year to determine where We finish on the ladder, and We didn't deserve to win the game anyway.

I actually like the way the Raiders play, and their forwards match up with ours quite well. No real forward dominance could be had by us, which negates our best weapons.
Yes, they slowed the ruck down. But I'll say this- our dummy half & guy playing the ball spend too long waving their arms around complaining & not enough time attacking the line. Nofa, To'a in particular are very good air traffic controllers.
Some teams will not match well against us. Raiders & Sharks I imagine will cause us grief more often than not.

Officiating aside, it was just a few moments of inexperience from some of the younger guys (Bula, Tupou, Pole) & going too often to Brooks’ side (Papalii, Talau) that cost us especially the form that T’oa, Bateman & Nofa are in.

I think the 2nd half showed the coaches the impact that Pole can have as an impact prop & Bateman as a link/roving middle.

NRL need to introduce a team foul system. Canberra we’re continuously killing the ball and laying all over us. They should have had guys sent well and truly prior to Starling getting marched.
After the big win in their previous game and having a week off I expected to see Our mob come onto the field with lots of confidence, intensity and enthusiasm in attack, but I didn't see that until the last 10 mins of the match.

Sorry to get back to this one so late.
I do not want to move Api to halfback. I think we'd be mad not to try and retain Brooks on fair dollars. If he starts asking for huge dollars just let him go.
I can't see AD making it at all now. It's sad and I really don't want comment on it.
I thought Api massively overplayed his hand last night and he was eons better than Simpkin.
You asked for an option and I gave it. It's not a good option and certainly one I wouldn't take unless Brooks is asking for ridiculous money. I'd also resign Wakehan as well. I think they are both high priority signings.

Ricky devised the lay all over us plan to counter our attack and Presser complains about 8 ruck infringements against them
This guy is so full of bullshit .They would have watched the tape of our cowboys game and got a little alarmed and so devised the plan to dramatically slow down our play the ball
He admitted they deserved their 8 ruck infringements but complained about our zero
Average play the ball speed they were nearly a second faster .
Refs should act earlier not 68 minute mark
Poor reffing cost us but a 15% drop in our completion rate did too
Raiders were lucky hope the worm turns on them soon

Agree, called out the push in the back on Brooks
I think Api is still getting the balance right. Simpkin has just plateaued. He’s okay but I’m not seeing a lot of upside right now. Wakeham has certainly exceeded expectations for this year.

No he didn't, our impotent attack in the first half, poor ruck refereeing and low I.q in terms of football intelligence when they put the onside kick we bottled after the kick off after our field goal cost us the game. Paps should never have been in that position if we catch the ball instead of trying to bat it back. If we get a penalty when Brooks is pushed instead of them being awarded a try we win. There are a whole host of things that contributed to us losing not just Paps.

We couldn't score for 70 min then score 3 in 3 sets

We've had some massive BS calls over the years, that Broncos game in Campbelltown where Isaako scored all their points comes to mind as well. There is no vindication for any of these because we will never be successful enough to forget these minor losses.

What if Pole had passed to execute a 3 on 2 with half the field open
What if Brooks had stayed down when he got charged down and pretended they hit his leg
What if the ref had just blown a penalty coz clearly the guy who ran up to Brooks on the last tackle was offside, that's a more deliberate penalty and act than what Papali'i did.
The Refs have way too much power.

Sheens made an interesting comment in presser about Jake came off blowing with Sheens citing lack of recent game time. I wonder whether we’ll see Simpkin play 80 mins of NSW Cup next week with Laurie or Smith onto bench as hooker/half utility. We’ll need Simpkin in 1sts the following week with Api on SOO duty, and maybe Laurie or Smith can continue as his backup.
