Big worry is Fulton wants Schuster. His manager asked for 1.2 mil a season. I hope were not stupid enough to sign the bloke on current form, not even if he's paying us to play for us.

I don't think Schuster is worth half that $$..has no consistency.

So using that logic an average to below average half is worth more than an above average winger. Brooks is worth more than 500k

I’m a Brooks fan, but in light of us paying him big overs in recent years and fact he’s not getting any younger, we could not possibly pay him anymore than 600 per season and if he’s a decent bloke, he shouldn’t expect it either.
As for Schuster, I’m far from convinced he’s a NRL standard 5/8. He would be by far the slowest 5/8 in the NRL and his kicking game is atrocious.
Blore is a must keep, he’s one of the best forwards not currently a regular part of an NRL top 17.

The other thing is people get caught up on the amount he is getting this year which was back loaded the reported avg over the years was around 650k per season. Given the cap increases (not just this season but forward projections) any NRL experienced halve says no to us & we have zero signed next season we have next to no bargaining power.

Whack some incentives into the deal for making the finals but 600k-650k a season especially given applying the reduced cap load due to services years would look very reasonable.

Agreed, we might think it’s stupid money, but that is the sort money you need to pay to get a middle of the road no7 or 6 under the current salary cap

That’s for sure and Wakeham is far too slow for an NRL 5/8.
Our overall 1-7 is still currently very slow compared to most other NRL sides, so we definitely cannot afford an even slower 5/8.

Yes. But were we not singing the praises of Laurie and Hastings etc after back to back wins over top four clubs in 2022? This happens a lot at our club, we see some green shoots but again we backed up a famous win with another disappointing home loss. For all the positives we currently don’t have a halfback or five eighth for next year. That’s the challenge that looms large.

I think the difference is we have seen about 8 weeks of consistent good football from the team we not always be getting the win but over time if we continue to improve the wins will come
