Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

So Pascoe and LH take no accountability for football matters bring Sheens in for the role - until - they without his knowledge demote Sheens chosen recruitment manager and hire Fulton for the job. Anyone who thinks Sheens would not be pissed off about that is kidding themselves. Whether McDonnell was doing a good job or not is not the issue it's impossible to trust any thing that comes out of their mouths and the last thing needed is any disharmony between recruitment manager and coach

I’m a Brooks fan, but in light of us paying him big overs in recent years and fact he’s not getting any younger, we could not possibly pay him anymore than 600 per season and if he’s a decent bloke, he shouldn’t expect it either.
As for Schuster, I’m far from convinced he’s a NRL standard 5/8. He would be by far the slowest 5/8 in the NRL and his kicking game is atrocious.
Blore is a must keep, he’s one of the best forwards not currently a regular part of an NRL top 17.

But have we truly paid overs in recent years, or just paid what was owed him for taking unders in earlier years?
Not getting any younger, he is far from old. In fact he is at what should be his peak age. If were valuing him on age this should be his highest valued contract.
No idea what his expectations are but not sure how the club could expect him to take less than 600k.

The other thing is people get caught up on the amount he is getting this year which was back loaded the reported avg over the years was around 650k per season. Given the cap increases (not just this season but forward projections) any NRL experienced halve says no to us & we have zero signed next season we have next to no bargaining power.

Whack some incentives into the deal for making the finals but 600k-650k a season especially given applying the reduced cap load due to services years would look very reasonable.

WT or any other potential suitors will be paying $700k plus, and I think it silly to think otherwise with the new salary cap level.

Wakeham would look like the Fox in comparison to Schuster
