Stefano Utoikamanu #241

Some one tell him to be careful...

Tino & those Queensland lads don't play around 😆

Don't think he's been playing that well to be considered for Origin... Don't think he's ready myself but congrats to him if he is in fact in the team.
Typical of Origin however, he's got his opportunity because of injuries and lack of form of some other candidates.

Stefano is arguably not playing Origin-level footy, but there are few props that are, beyond the ones they've already selected. I'd say Klemmer is just as deserving of a recall to Origin based on 2023 form, except I think they consider him too old at this point.

I wonder if he will be like Galloway or like Tedesco in Origin fortunes.

Great news for Stef - I worry he's not ready too, but that's mostly because I'm/we are too invested in his development and wouldn't want this to backfire. He belongs at that level.

Agree with @jirskyr RE Klem, he could've def done a job off the bench for NSW based on how well he has gone for us.

Klemmer will not play Origin whilst ever Fittler is coach.

Word is Hynes has been dropped.... Not surprised at this... Fittler panicking. Form is temporary... Class is permanent
I was too afraid of saying this.

Stefano has definitely been good for us but even Klemmer has been better IMO. I think this is a case of Freddy picking his favourites again. Years ago he has him in the Emerging Blues squad and sounds like he's sticking to his favourites like Stefano, Moses, Crichton etc.

At the end of the day though, Saifiti, Tatola Klem, RCG, Leniu etc have the runs on the board, have played big games and I would feel more comfortable handling the occasion.

Stefano however definitely deserves it and I'm stoked for him..

Fittler really not a fan of David Klemmer...

Averaging 152m, has a solitary missed tackle through 13 games, has led the WT pack all year and proven at the highest level thru every game & leads by example...

What's not to like there.

🤔
I think you will find it is more the other way around

Not sure what his stats are but one thing Stef does is get good post contact metres. That’s important in Origin as the defensive line speed is increased but the 10m is decreased.

Stef will have to hit the line hard and keep rolling forward post initial contact to get us on the front foot.

Fittler doesn't like Klemmer and has a history of playing favourites

Brandy speaking on SEN says Stefano came in as they felt they couldn’t go with Pangai Junior again, and Stefano will be the third prop, supporting Haas and Paulo.
They never should have gone with TPJ in the first place.. and yes I will say it, "even Blind Freddy" could have seen that. I wonder if he was blind when he picked that first team.

Realistically Tino should be suspended - so far 6 players have been badly injured with his illegal play and nothing is said - slap on the wrist ...
He will be suspended for that play sometime in the future. They wouldn't do it just before SOO but, mark my words, he'll do it again and be suspended for it. They know it's dangerous and he's becoming a serial offender.
