Luke Brooks #167

Boo hoo … at $1.2mil I don’t buy your sorry tale … he’s playing NRL, not on the set of ‘Coming To America’
… (hand clap) .. “wipers”
Adam Reynolds doesn’t require an expensive shadow!
Nope, he's only had the likes of GI, and Mitchell at fullback, Luke and Cook at hooker and Sutton, Keary and Walker as a halves partner.
Until he went to Brisbane and didn't make the finals.
Now that he has Walsh and Mam he is in the top 4 again.

Adam Reynolds is far better player too, and Reynolds signed a 3 year $800k a year contract for 2022, 2023 and 2024, similar money to what Brooks has been on, but delivering far more

You must be ‘tuckered’ out … I can hear Mummy telling you to go to sleep
I am not a "Brooks fan" or supporter at all. He has underperformed here his entire tenure. I can admit though, that it is not all his fault. His deadshit club lurched from one disaster to another the whole time he has been here, hiring a lot of pretenders and letting go some very good players.

That said, I stated 2 months ago that despite his limitations we cannot afford to let him go without signing a suitable replacement. Ive seen us fail to secure anyone, and read management have essentially said publically that he is gone after offering him a contract on the low end for his position. That is going to hurt us and likely waste the time that Api, Klemmer and co are on board. It may even have knockon effects with coaching and personel departures. The NRL community is fast discovering that Bula, Tupou, Pole and To'a are good players. Papali'i doesnt seem to have fully stettled in. Da Silva is about to debut and could spark interest as well.

We are finally starting to become competitive during games consistently, and Brooks has played a role in that. We needed someone to compliment him, not some greenhorn or discard to replace him. His treatment by the club currently is dumb and could have ramifications that finally sink it.

I think given Sheens wanted to keep Brooks. Sheens shit the bed with Brooks injury management.

Why do other clubs pay for the star to see that hammy expert in the US and our club does not?

Now Brooks hammies are shot again it was an amateur decision for Sheens to retain him.

Look at Warriors, SJ came into the preseason looking like Tarzan and Metcalf went to the US to fix his ongoing issues. Difference of success

You're seriously reaching now man....
How many blokes have been to the US?
3-4... Is it?

How many NRL players have done a Hammy?

Shot again? You make it sound like he's barely played in the last 10 years....
He's barely ever been injured - And I'm pretty sure last year was a calf.

Well said....

Thinking that with all the Rookie Calls....
Waste all the time we have left with our top line players, Blooding some young guns that will take a year or 2 to work out if they'll even get to Brooks level (Wherever that may be deemed to be)
All the while still struggling, Because - They're only young - Got to condition the body for year on year NRL and whatever other reasons.
Then loose all our young blokes because they want to win....
Then have to sign nufties to field a team....

Heard this tale before.... Yes you have....
Losing Brooks would take us 3-4 years just to get back to being the Wests Tigers of 2017.
NUTS!!

In a squad with 4 Current starting Origin Players....
Plus Top Liners Herbie Farnworth, Katoni Stags, Kurt Capewell...
Whilst being no slouch himself...

Missed crap load of footy last year, can't remember year before that, but same with this year injured again. . He's injury prone. Given he's a star player in our team. I think it's reasonable to compaire him with how other teams manage their star players.

Played 17/25 games last year...
Has also done that 2 more times in his career...

Outside those 3 years and his debut - He's played 21+ games every year...
(Out of 25-26)

Given they're different injuries in different years...
There's no real correlation with what you're saying.

The guys you're comparing him with have had the same injury over many years
- And in some cases, Career threatening injuries.

Is the 17/23 the past 3 seasons?

Yep 11 of their starting 13 have Origin or tier 1 international experience in the last 12months. The 12th is one of the halves that others suggest we try to entice here. Admittedly the 13th is a bit of a scrub. Definitely the same quality that Brooks has been stuck with the last 10 years.

Our side has plenty going for it this year, we have an easy top 8 side, but the halves are letting us down, Brooks has the talent around him to have us in the 8, yet he has failed again, but somehow it's not his fault again, I am sick of hearing the same old song

Doesn't have 4 current Origin Starters and a Farnworth / Staggs centre combination though now does it?

Every side in the 8 has a better side on paper than we do, And there's at least 2 sides not in the 8 that are stronger than us on paper...

I'm sure it's easy for you blokes just to say "We should be in the 8"
- But I swear you don't watch football - Or any other football...

Our side has improved... But anyone who thinks we're not a bottom 4-6 side on paper isn't looking at the other squads....
The fact that we could have won a few more games than we have is a more of a positive on the side we're building than a negative on the side we have.
You might be sick of excuses....
Without a side that is better, Or at least on par with more than half of the other sides in the comp,
(Which we simply don't have)
What else could you expect?

you sing the anti Brooks song pretty loudly no matter what he seems to do.
Anyone but brooks... we might soon find out

You would have to be extremely delusional, to the point of insanity, to argue against the fact that we have had little trouble getting into attacking quarter of the park with high consistency, yet failed to convert the field position to points.

Our, by your definition lesser roster, has more often than not, dominated other (again more highly touted in your eyes) rosters as far as field position, yet lacked the direction and craftsmanship to matriculate it into points. I suppose in essence I agree with you, their rosters are better, but not across the park, but only 2 positions. Stud halves...
