If it is announced in coming days you would have to consider Brooks made his decision to leave some time ago regardless of what we offered. No one signs a contract that quick.

he has been able to sign a Contract since Nov 1 last year. i wouldnt call that quick.

Sam Walker is probably worth a tap on the shoulder. He's got a stack of ability in my books and seems to have fallen out with Cronks strict structure. I think he'd thrive under Sheens and Benji playing more eyes up

Is he currently injured? Must be if the Roosters have chosen to select a rookie at halfback this weekend?

If not, he'd be filthy and rightly so.

Was just reading fox sports and the article was about who the dragons could target for next year.

One player was Matt Lodge.

It's no secret he was an absolute psycho in the past and has a history of early departures... like at practically every club bar the roosters!

But I was just thinking about if I were the tigers, would I sign him again?

I would never re-sign Moses, Matterson or Aloiai after how they left, but I think at a good price, and as long as he didn't go off his meds, I probably would.

Of course a lot comes down to things I can't possibly know - I can only judge on the surface - but he seems to have kept himself out of trouble and may have matured?

I guess what I'm saying is if he is different these days, and cheap, he'd be a very handy addition to the pack. So, purely as a player, I would.

But if he is still a complete tool, no way.

Easiest to just steer clear, but interested to read opinions on this.

That could be entirely why Brooks was given a deadline, not out of disrespect, but full knowledge of who his manager is.

There are many people who criticise giving players a deadline, but when you know how their managers drag things out in public, it makes sense to take away some of the manager's posturing power.

He has a terrible track record that's for sure! Came from the Storm to the Tigers, then Brisbane, the Warriors (probably understandable on the surface) and not being re signed by the Roosters, but they have Leniu and maybe others coming in.

As I said, purely as a player I'd say yes, but agree there very well could be lingering issues. If he is still a problem child, then doesn't bear thinking...

A lot of kids mentioned as the plan. In any age groups top 50 players, less than 5 will play more than 20 first grade games. Most will fall by the wayside.

Couple of things:

- I like Bula quite a lot actually, but let’s pump the brakes on the Tedesco comparisons. Tedesco will go down as one of the greatest fullbacks of all time in his prime, imo he’s right behind Slater at 2nd he was that good. If Bula can be 60-70% of what Tedesco was we’ll have a great player, let’s not mount pressure on the kid and let him develop and let’s evaluate him in another 2 years when he understand and has grown into the game a little more. Brooks’s comparisons with Joey Johns tells you the negative impact it can have.

- Warriors are definitely a place you can look with their abundance of halves. Between Volkman, Metcalf and TMM it’s a pretty easy pick to me. Could be unpopular but I think Volkman is incredibly overrated, very good Cup player but everytime he plays FG he doesn’t look great. TMM is a good player but not necessarily what we need right now. But Metcalf is the real deal he’s a really good player. I personally think we should go all in for Pezet but if that fails, Metcalf is definitely a worthy candidate. I’ve happened to have a couple of interactions with him a few times when he was at sharks living in the shire, very very humble and quiet kid who puts the work in. No ego just works he’ll be a great player imo and warriors might slowly be realising that.

- Pezet and Metcalf are good options, but I would also make a call to the Roosters amd see what’s going on with Sam Walker over there and let them know there’s interest. Roosters won’t sit around for too long with performances like they’ve had recently, expect changes within that squad. I reckon they’re defs sniffing around at Ben Hunt seeing what’s going on there. Just a gut feeling he’s pretty much the missing piece there imo and Shane might finally get to give his kid a crack at 7….

Look don't forget it's not just performance. It's price + performance.

Sam walker at 110k, Hell yes.
Sam Walker at 1m a season, hell no.

I would love for Cooper Cronk to educate a halfback, yet he could be a little like Ricky Stewart... a perfectionist who expects everything...

all in all, Sam walker. If the price is right and you are cheap enough... Come on down. I could deal with 2x 400k halves and we spend the money on beef in the front row + a back row gun.

OR

We go hunting for a specialist halfback. I kept shouting Luke keary yet people said he was done... He doesn't look totally done and for an intermediate half could fit the bill here.

Doesn’t Adam Reynolds at $800k per year look cheap now. I expect he would have preferred to stay local and sign with the Tigers instead of going to Brissie.
