Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

🤦🏻‍♂️

Surely there's someone better than him on the market.

Tigers need to broaden their recruitment plan.

Otherwise we are always back to square 1.
I would suspect this is aimed at this season, and if he goes ok, then he gets another contract

Unshackled, shackled, wearing a gimp mask, Brooks of any persuasion is still shit.
Toddy boy I am not sure you are a statistics person but I am confident Luke Brooks was out injured for a fair whack of the back end of 2022. I wouldn't put my hard earned on it but if my memory serves me the WESTS Tigers did NOT win a game whilst he was injured? Happy to be corrected. What is my point? Who did you blame for those losses when he didn't play?

There was Moses and Shaun Johnson, and we couldn't land them and now there's Ben Hunt and were not in the race. So, Brad Schneider is the man to raise us from the Spoon, inspiring ❤❤

sadly this is probably reality
Hunt imo is a shoe in for the roosters even though we could outbid them
Edit- just gave myself an uppercut
need to think before I write

Never heard of him god help us if that's all we are looking at.
It is for the remainder of this year, who knows he might surprise, we need to do something. If he does ok he gets extended, we have roster spots, and it won’t effect our chances of trying to land more halves

If you aren't spending the $1m on him then you can spend it on someone who does win you games so him being injured or not doesent really make the argument

Would be surprised if Raiders let him go this season as they don't have much depth behind Wighton & Fogarty (only Matt Frawley). Could only mean Raiders have someone else lined up for depth this season.

There aren't many pommy halves and backs that have managed to succeed in the NRL. Risky play.

Yes it is risky but to be honest we don't have much choice as i doubt if any half in the NRL would take a risk coming here with our awful administration and coaching even though we do have a decent pack of forwards

On the other forum, an ITK poster heard a rumour we are signing a young half this week - a backup level half from another club & not Jack Cogger.

Not sure his interpretation of backup level half, whether that also includes under 19 types or just 2nd/3rd string halves playing mainly NSW Cup.

If rumour is true, me thinks it is either Ronald Volkman, Toby Sexton, Latu Fainu or Ethan Sanders.

I don’t think Rabbits or Sharks would risk releasing Hawkins & Trindall in case they are required through injury. Nor do I think Dragons would release Sullivan or Roosters with Smith until Hunt situation finalised.

Volkman - Warriors have Te Maire Martin & Dylan Walker who can cover halves as backups to SJ & Metcalf. They may be willing to save some cap space to offer SJ new deal. RV is from Sydney & managed by Fulton’s man Tartak.

Sexton - well down pecking order now, Titans may be out to create cap space for Hunt. Former Junior Kangaroo.

Fainu - also managed by Tartak, great relationship with Fulton but would take an amazing deal for Manly.

Sanders - SG Ball GF man of the match, regarded as the best game managing half in junior reps, could be a coincidence but he hasn’t played lower grades for Parra since the weekend before we released Joffa to Eels. Maybe an injury or was he part of the Joffa deal that has taken a few more weeks to go through???
Would love to get Sanders out of all this. Ben Hunt would be amazing but sanders is a signing for the future.

Rubbish. For much of Brooks career we were on the verge of finals. Pascoe came along and rooted our roster and now we’re a glorified reserve grade side.
We were 9th multiple years, true. Pasco stuffed things, true again. Though for much of Brooks career we were on the verge of finals, we never quite got there, though through time the roster has turned over he remained and we are right where we started again. Pasco and the board without a doubt are the main issue in terms of the teams lack of success. They have made some diabolical decisions, one of which has been to try and persevere with Brooks.

On that we agree. I just don’t trust the “leaders” to get an upgrade. They can’t sign anyone.
That's the worry atm, I reckon they think hiring Fulton will fix the stink around the joint because us being unable to sign decent and marquee players, when the real problem is the imbecile pasco and the board.

I think you’ve taken it wrong. I wasn’t saying they went for the highest offer and put themselves out to market each contract.

More that they were always treated well and payed very well. It was when that management changed that that Benji went to rugby after his verbally promised contract was not given, and Farah was equally treated crap that they left.

But I don’t for a second believe that they would of hung around if in their prime years they were low balled at every contract like what the current muppets are doing.

I don’t remember either Benji or Robbie being publicly chased ala Moses. I know they certainly would of been if they weren’t on good money.
I remember Farah being chased really hard by the Titans in the late 2000s and he stayed loyal.

Who has been lowballed? Brooks certainly hasn't. He's just finally been offered what he's worth

I agree, at times Brooks can look like a headless chook, but it’s illogical to blame the club’s failures on him alone.
If you watched the recent Storm game, the previous play or two before Twaly’s historical try, there was a classical example of why we’re not winning games. There was an entire team of headless chooks, we’ll all but one, Nofa could see we had numbers on the left and had to run cross field to get the ball there.
It’s always a new team with players not only distrusting each other, but also themselves.
But don’t let me spoil your fun having Brooks as your target 😂
Brooks job his pay packet is earnt on his ability to run the teams attack. How many points did Brooks set up against South's? Our 11 year veteran.

We came up against a crack side that day and I thought the team played well to stay in touch. Souths gave us nothing. We had 1 line break and 1 Forced drop out. Who gave us that? the little guy wearing the no.7, who also made 27 tackles.
No I dont think our club has destroyed him, hes a tough minded individual and he will play well wherever he lands.

He might play great and make origin and Australia, great for him, for us though it's not working unfortunately. It's time to move on

I’m not getting into the brooks debate, to many people seem so emotionally invested in how much someone else earns.

Lee came out and said “we will no longer pay above market rate for players” to me this says that they were paying over market rate for players to get them / keep them here.

The question I am asking is if we are no longer going to pay more to get players here, what is the lure to get players to come?

We aren’t a successful club.
We don’t “look after our players” ala roosters
We don’t have treat our players with loyalty (Benji and Robbie)
We are no longer going to pay better than other clubs (Lee said it himself)
There are a dozen other clubs that play in Sydney

I just don’t see why players will sign on.

U known , I think the reason we are not getting any of these young guns , is the club or the coaching staff are not prepared to take a Risk on a kid , because when u think about it a kid been offered twice or more than what’s he’s earning and throw in a 1st grade spot would be stupid to knock that back
