Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It's only just been recently that Brooks is seen as 5/8th.The club always backed him as a 7 to lead the club - tried to hand him the keys. You can't blame the club because he couldn't fulfill that role - always someone's fault.
It will be good to see how he goes outside DCE but let's not rewrite what he couldn't live up to here.

You will see Brooks play like he did against the Cowboys At Leichhardt every week once he’s playing outside a quality 7 in DCE.
Latu Fainu no doubt looks to have massive potential and I’m very happy he’s rumoured to be signing with Wests Tigers, but he won’t be in the same class as Luke Brooks as a running 5/8 for at least 2 years.
Manly will walk into the top 8 with Brooks playing 6 for them, while Wests Tigers will remain in the bottom 3 waiting on young players with potential to develop.
I think you hit the nail on the head. Latu will be an exciting signings, but don’t expect much to change for a couple of years. You can’t expect a kid to walk into a NRL side and hit the road running. It’s going to take time and good coaching. On the other hand Manly at full strength should be a good destination for Brooks and I expect him to do well

Yep. Joey Manu is the current Golden Boot recipient as another example
Centres aren’t what they used to be. Manu won the golden boot playing fullback for NZ and is continually being shifted to get closer to the action.

GI and Trell had to move positions to have more of an impact on the game.

you will forget about Brooksy very quickly when you see Latu play. he is special.
I like the look of him, but at 18y.o we would need to surround him with a much better NRL side than what we currently have to help him showcase his talent at NRL level.

The Brooks boys can't let go
Putting too much pressure on an 18y.o halve playing alongside the rabble of a team we currently run out each week would be a disaster.
If you don’t believe me, wait and see on Saturday night when the Cowboys whack us by 40+ with the only real differences from the team that whacked them a few weeks back at Leichhardt will be Api and Brooks missing.
Manly want Brooks now, but he’s not an ahole like Ben Hunt and won’t leave the club he loves short of players while he’s under contract.

Ah kinda no.

Yes they have a little more impact, both as a roaming fullback make the team about them (similar with Munster).

I honestly think GI's biggest impact was at Winger for QLD. WHY? no one watching him so he would casually make an intercept at a key moment.

Which is exactly why we should avoid this craze of making it all about the fullback. Once it is all about one player they are marked. We want to create opportunities.

Which is what we should have done with Brooks when Moses left. Will be interesting to see if we have learnt anything in that time or will we try and turn Fainu into an organising 7.
And what we should have done when Prince left.

We've struggled with that multiple times in our history, so I don't have a lot of confidence we won't try and turn Fainu into a 7.

Brooks has found form because the WT style has been built around him (going to short sides more often, running more often). I'm not sure he'll be as effective fitting into a system as we saw with Madge. Manly build their game around DCE and Turbo.

We are struggling now because our hooker and half are out and we have no attack. But prior to injuries hammering us we were the dominant team on the pitch most weeks just couldn't get the ball over the line. With a new pair of halves we will be travelling heaps better with all the space their given by our pack.

Today is a great day for WT, Sheens and co have been in the process of removing all the dead wood going forward and today our two biggest flops have been removed 🤙🤙
Really, I can pick a few in front of them , AD , seyfarth , wakeham , so it’s confirmed that brooks and tommy are going but I don’t see any confirmed signings , maybe things go south for us and we get no one likely every other time
