Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Brooks is an ok player. Poor first grader / borderline reserve grader as an organising half, can play well at 5/8th. He's not going to be some revelation at Manly, not a chance.

He'll do better than here I'm sure, but he's not going to suddenly become some great ball player or put on a bunch of tries with his short kicking game. His running game can be quite good, but he does still make some very questionable decisions when it comes to his choice of time to take on the line and the way he does it. Obviously having a 7 in DCE will help a lot in that regard, but the point is that a lot of his flaws are inherent to him and not products of the system he's in or the team around him.

Giving him 4 years as a guy who greatly relies on his speed, and that has already seen some loss of pace already, is definitely a risk. Brooks is much more likely to regress during this deal than improve as a player throughout it. On top of that, does this 4 year deal match-up with DCE's timeline? DCE is 34 now ... will he still be playing at a high level at 38? Do Manly have a contingency plan if DCE calls it a day in 2 years? What if Brooks needs to play 7 in 2025 or 2026 ... big problems in st
He's worth what the market is prepared to pay. Manly were prepared to pay and give him allegedly a 4 year deal. Good luck to him and for WTs if this is true I respect the club's decision not to counter bid. But to suggest he is a poor first grader is nonsense.

Cust reminds me a little of one of my favourite players Lincoln Withers. Not huge skill but tough and plays direct. Not what we need, but good type to have in the squad.
Withers was much better player and very under rated mate. Biggest hitter in the game for his size - loved how he played.
Cust is not a game management half at all.

This is definitely an attempt at some form of humour lol. Brooks the superstar , finally coming out of his shell (ten years later )
It’s definitely humorous if you are still saying Luke Brooks is a dud.
Nearly all the ex players who now work for Fox Sports or Channel 9 regularly comment on how Luke Brooks is not the problem for Wests Tigers, Wests Tigers with their did playing rosters have always been the problem for Luke Brooks.
Anyway he’ll have the last laugh when playing regular finals football at Manly.

This has us getting screwed all over it.... If Fulton stuffs this up its not going to go down well.
Manly are now in the box seat.
It’s highly likely they will demand Brooks and Talau straight away for this season, in order for them to release Fainu to us.
Happy for Talau to go now, but we need more depth in our halves other than just an 18y.o Fainu to give us some chance of avoiding the spoon again.

I’ll take another spoon instead of 16th if Fainu is as good as I hear. We’ll be lucky to win another game anyway with injuries. Blood the young ones. Haha sounds like last year but just fresher without brooks

Can’t help but think in typical Wests Tigers fashion that Fainu stays at Manly and in 3yrs Manly wins the comp with Brooks and Fainu in the halves.

Meanwhile we continue to hunt for some halves that can get us to at least 1st week of finals.

Hopefully we get a win, Fainu comes across and we get him to reach his potential in our jerseys.

There are plenty of top halves that have played the game that are not controlling halves like Brett Kenny, Cliff Lyons, etc, etc Good teams don’t try and make players something they’re not! They use players to their strengths not their weakness. Look what sheens did this season took the pressure off him let him play his natural game and he started to play much better.

Picked two good ones there where is the correlation? Do you honestly think that everyone was against Brooks playing to his strengths except Sheens? We can all identify his strengths it's his weaknesses that have been the problem and while he he can never be held accountable for the club being unsuccessful nor can others be held accountable for areas in his game that separate the good halves from the not so good ones.

To be fair, Brooks has been procured to run the Blacktown Workers side in 24, 25, 26 & 27. It's his big chance to play finals footy at long last.

They can go now - I'll pay the Ferry costs.

It will only be worse if it drags on past the weekend as I’m certain we are going to get whipped against the Cowboys.
They are just hitting peak form and would have beaten anyone up in Townsville this coming Saturday, we are lambs to the slaughter.

It's been confirmed on the Manly Website. Brooks 4 years TT 2 years. from 24.

Good on Brooksy if the rumour is true, those who said he wouldn't get an NRL deal are dead set on the wacky tobacco. I'll be hoping he has success at Manly. Good for us too but only if we can pair Fainu with a Mitchell Pearce type of mentor.

Very funny this place.
No club would want him
500k is about right
2 year deal is right
He is the reason we suck

Signs with Manly within 2 weeks of saying no to us for a 4yr deal between 600-700k a season.

Meanwhile we have zero halves on our books for next season in the squad signed & wonder why we struggle. Living in hope Fainu an 18yr kid is released, picks us and can deliver in a few years.

I hear u but reckon with cherry taking all the heat of him. His kicking game will improve with the pressure off. He was a great kicker in the 20’s comp he’s just lost his confidence.
