Juniors - Pathways General Discussion

We’re heading for a second wooden spoon Paws. There might be good happening but until we see any fruit it’s a hard sell to the fan base. But you keep hoping.

It’s interesting that somehow we still manage to rack up 20k members whilst being rock bottom.

Fan bases are fickle most the time, it’s the long time supporters who have had enough.

I can see what Paws is saying we do have what appears to be a good quality junior crop coming through and for decades the experts have all said focus on the area. We haven’t had any hope realistically for a long time.

But I have zero confidence in our club executing the plan successfully let alone keeping the best of those kids in the years to come.

Every 20 odd years we see how this plays out, kids come through play well and want success = move to a better club that knows what success is & can pay alot more.

This really sums West Tigers up in the last 10 years

Just imagine if our club was truly run properly how much success we would have.

A few of our players in the squads. Well done to all. Alex Conti, Heath Mason , Lachlan Galvin in the NSWCHS, NSWCCC and NSWCHS teams in the halves respectively! That is an achievement. Marc Tannous also in the NSWCHS squad and is a half as well.

I doubt you can speak for most on the forum, I know plenty disagree with your opinions. You appear to me to speak for a small subset who blindly support the club through every single failure. You are part of the “we accept mediocrity” club.
Indeed, people that attack Shens and defend Maquire as a better option, are the group that was happy with mediocracy Packer, Matuylino, Tamou, Rogers, BJ Lailua ...
Their goal was/still is to destroy the club, so they are not happy to see Bula, Tupou, Da Silva, Pole, Matamua .. 🐅 💪

I am here at the 18s Schoolboys natty champs.

Lachlan Galvin is the best player I've seen in the four teams so far. He is outrageously good.

Mason was pretty good made a nice line break in the previous game. Galvin and Laulilii (left wing) are combining really well. Laulilii is a very good winger in the To'o type. Finau has had some nice touches and Keppie was pretty good out of dummy half.

What is it about Galvin that makes him so good? Speed, skill, vision, power, running, kicking, work rate, etc?

He is just better at football than everyone he plays against. It's no one thing. He's not fast but his speed is more than adequate because his opponent's hang off him because of how good his pass selection is. He breaks tackles for fun and has insanely good footwork and yes he's a very good attacking kicker to boot. Just ridiculous.

He (and all of his opponents) know it too. He is full on taking the piss with a shit eating grin on his face the whole time and every time he touches it the opposition get brain bees. The only player on the park keeping up with him is Luke Laulilii because he is unsurprised by what Lachlan does.

He is also the best aerial target on the field. He has batted back an attacking bomb and a drop out so far.
