Unprofessional: Our 'culture'...

Firstly, I have had to spend a fair amount of time away from my family the past decade. So, I have jumped on planes at all hours whenever I have had a chance. So, I completely get it.

But Bateman flying to the UK and spending ten days there...arriving back Thursday...shows how unprofessional we are.

Would a team have done that if a top 4 spot was on the line? No. 100% not. So, you are saying "this game is not important" indirectly to all the players.

His legs were gone early....anyone could see it. That flight from the UK, and then up to Nth QLD humidity...then play a game. You can't do that.

If the captain thinks bye round is a chance for a holiday...what do the other players think? They were clearly not prepared for this game.

74...seventy four...0.

We are the same club who let Robbie Farah fly to Europe for the Champion's League final in the middle of a crucial period of games...then were belted in his return game.

Again, I get it. I have empathy. Robbie wanted to see LFC in a big game. By going Robbie basically said that was more important than proper prep for a Tiger's game.

But it is not the stuff professional clubs do.

It is our culture.

Non winners.

If the Cowboys can put a revenge sign on the wall that inspires that sort of performance, what could we possibly put on our wall to turn that result around?

Did he go for something important like a funeral etc? or was it just because more his old 'homesick' schtick? If so, the bloke is weak as piss and a terribly soft individual. Get the cotton wool out.

Go back to Benji and Robbie in the mid 00’s. They had zero idea how to lead young players. They were the teachers that guys like Noffa and Brooks had to learn from. The club’s motto should be “blind leading the blind”
In the land of the blind the one eyed man is King. Unfortunately Sheens puts his patch on his good eye.

This culture crap is just that crap , we were in that game tonight for nearly 20 minutes, what changed was we ran out of puff defending players didn’t cover inside or outside where slow of the ground , fraitgue set in and we dropped the ball nearly every time , we dropped nearly every bomb put up , so culture has nothing to do with any of the above , comes down to coaching putting miles in legs and making players aware they must support team mates.

I don't have a problem with it.

I daresay it won't be happening again though.

Mate, he had jet lag for sure. I notice he missed the last 20 minutes, probably asleep in the dressing room.

He went, as far as I know, to see his daughter.

And I 100% get that and empathise.

If it was funeral, and reports indicate it was not, then let the man take the week off.

But the trip was to see his daughter. Again, I 100% can relate to that.

But he is being paid a lot of money AND we won't be playing semis. I.e. he will get 4 weeks extra to spend together.

If he was at the storm or panthers...he would not have been allowed to go AND he'd be playing until October. With us he will have an entire extra month over there, on full pay.

And he arrived very late also. And he is the captain...the culture setter.

74-0 just does not happen if the team is prepared properly.

Seventy... four...

Our future coach was this week instagramming his family in first class luxury lying back on a flight to fvck knows where
Yeah he was in Fiji in a 5 star resort.

Again, I have no probs with that...but it is not a good look when the coach in waiting is updating social media with beach shots.

Basically, everyone took the 10 day break off.

In a way it is nice...capt sees his child, coach in waiting gets some Island time...

But it is very clear everyone did not prepare as a result. A professional team can't lose by 74 if they have even half prepared.

We are talking about the biggest defeat since 1930...nearly 100 years. It just cannot happen to any team that has been prepared professionally.
