Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If Fainu's knock us back with all the advantages we have, that would be a new low. If we can't get these rookies across the line we can't get anyone.

What is it about us? Obviously results are shocking, but so are the Bulldogs, Knights, Dragons, Titans (for a while), but they're all able to attract some talent.

Player managers are against us.
Agree. If they knock us back despite:

1) we are Sydney based - their family live in Sydney.
2) Walk up starters in the halves and second row.
3) the so called Scott Fulton connection.
4) opportunity to play with their brother.
5) to be coached by golden boot 5/8

if this isn’t enough to get them over the line, given contract competitiveness, we may as well shut the club down.

Funny you say this, read a post (in one of the juniors threads) the other day mentioning the camaraderie from a group of Wests Magpies players.
They're extremely proud of this background and having the opportunity to represent it. They have insisted they only ever want to play for the Wests Tigers.

Find it heartwarming and while I don't doubt Betsey has done a good job with pathways, I sincerely hope this club can facilitate the effective progression/development of these young men.
Want nothing more than to see them have success.

Great post Lauren. I feel like it's been a recruitment
strategy, to pull in guys under the premise that
They'll be the ones to change our clubs fortunes
around.. It's nice to know that we're working from
within and some of the guys want to be
apart of it all.
They're generational and from the area, who
else but us haha. We need to stop dropping weights
on our toes we're going to be alright

I'm confused which is not unusual but I'm sure several posters confirmed the Fainu brothers were already guaranteed 100% locked and loaded. They had already signed with us apparently.....

Now they are definitely going north, now I know two things can be true at the same time but in this case they can't be.

Someone please check on the mailman as he seems confused as to where to send the package.....

If I think about the Fainu brothers. One is a 18 yr old five eight and today we had 2 17 yr old five eights from our club named in the Australian schoolboys side so not sure we lose out much their and the other is a backrower the position we are most stocked in already. What we need is a halback now which neither is and a experience five eight to guide the young blokes through neither of which they are. Are we really missing that much if they don't sign

So you saying we will get the Fainu brothers?

they replace their CEO all the time. And they have a star halfback and two superstar brothers, and they lose when the brothers are not there.
They replace their CEO usually with someone who does an even worse job.
My point is even if you get your way and Pascoe departs I wouldn't expect any great change based on that. We just need a convergence of all the right elements at the same time a la Penrith's group of lads.

Mitch Moses saga all over again

It appears plenty of supporters want both Fainu brothers and so do I.
If we signed Samuela Fainu what would our back row look like ?

I'm wondering how you blokes explain Manly being relatively successful despite their admin being a shitshow for the last decade?
I think they have a strong identity. I associate Manly with tough, hard working players (Stewart, Menzies and Jurbo). Their big money recruits have delivered and juniors have stuck with the club. Plus life on the Northern Beaches is a pretty good sell for prospective players.

You know things are bad when the guy on twitter NBWT ( nothing but wests tigers) is now refusing to post anything other than pathways stuff. He/she has to be one of the most positive people about the tigers and even they've had enough.
I don't think this person is ITK of any sort but always posts anything they scour around about the Tigers it was quite a good person to follow, the club just chews you up and spits you out.

They have also only played finals once in about five years when Turbo went off his dial and won dally m so not sure they are the gold standard.
Agreed. Far from the gold standard but a hell of a lot more successful than us over the last 10 years. I think the point was they have still managed to perform solidly despite their nightmare front office.
