New contender heavyweights favourites to sign Fainu brothers

After meeting with Latu Fainu and Samuela Fainu, the Wests Tigers are no longer the favourites to recruit them, with the Dolphins emerging as the new favourites.

The brothers' future has constantly been subjugated to speculation recently as they are the best young properties in rugby league on the market.

After being granted permission by Manly to look for new clubs, they were heavily linked to the Wests Tigers, which would see them reunite with Scott Fulton and brother Sione Fainu.

However, the Wide World of Sports is now reporting that the Dolphins, led by Wayne Bennett, have emerged as the new favourites for their signature.

A source told WWOS that the brothers are leaning towards the newly formed club due to the poor showings by the Tigers in recent weeks.

"There are a few clubs interested and we are just weighing up what's best for the boys and their family," manager Mario Tartak told WWOS. (DT)

It is just recycling The Mole's "scoop". Nothing new.

Only quote is regarding they are looking at more than the one or two clubs. Fair play.
I will say though, I hope uncle Wayne has a spot in the Redcliffe side for Sione because all three want to play together.

I mean if you’re that stupid that you’re picking your 2024/25 club based on 2023 form…

Yes... but so long as people accept the very real possibility that (a) changing the upper management does nothing, or (b) changing the upper management derails the current strategy and we go back to another rebuild.

In other words - I'm not saying don't do it, and it definitely hasn't been done recently, but don't complain in 2-3 years if we are not fixed. When you get down to the final argument of "it's the only thing we haven't tried" - that by definition means you have arrived at probably the most risky and least logical move, a scorched-Earth mentality.

For example, what happens if there really is a factional split between Sheens and Fulton? If you oust Pascoe and Lee, you might find Sheens takes control and sidelines Fulton, and it might actually be Sheens who is the core of the current problem (given that we ousted the previous coach on his advice). It might actually be that Scott Fulton is the one who is going to drive new and key changes within the long-term strategy.

Also accept that the Board is extremely unlikely to step down and really what fans are gunning for are the bishop and knight pieces on the board.
Empty supposition and fence sitting - posing as fair considered opinion!!

Removal of an underperforming CEO who has consistently demonstrated poor judgement is nothing like a "scorched earth policy" - and it is what any competent and proactive Board answerable to its shareholders would do having already scouted a more accomplished successor!

It is just standard and good business practice when stakeholders have lost faith in the CEO!!

And if Lee was a competent Chairman - that would be his recommendation to the Board!

But it is evident the CEO and Chair have become unhealthily co-dependent and rely on each other's support to retain their roles and deflect from their collective litany of failures - regardless of results!!

I think Fulton is professional enough to work behind the scenes, unlike the serial leakers here over the years … no doubt he’s working his magic in the background.
We’ve pre ejaculated our intentions too often in the past.
No news is good news after all the false starts and fake news in relation to signings over the years.
I think we are so desperate to recruit that even a promising first meeting or two we would hear about .Just like the story on the Fainu Bros
Fulton has had zero success so far and its really really difficult as we are regarded as a bit of a laughing stock with factional divides and always losing
The media especially Fox perpetuate our reputation almost daily
Our CEO / Chairman with their Fulton appointment kept from the head coach also further perpetuates our reputation .
Pascoe with his "tales from Tiger town " airing all the dirty laundry which no other club would do was a massive mistake
The result of all this negative aura is
Many have left
Many wish they could get another gig
No one of note wants to come
When someone takes over a restaurant that got a tarnished or declining reputation the new owners hang a huge sign out the front saying
"Under New Management " that's what we need !!!!!

The dolphins are on the slide and they have an aging pack

Yes we are going worse but we do have youth on our side and one of the reasons we are struggling is the reason we are chasing latu so he can guide our strong pack around and take advantage of their work

So who goes in when they go out?

know if he was interested in negotiating or wanted out
Look i agree it’s probably time for Pascoe to go.
But, don’t be ignorant to the great things he has done for our club. Before and after sheen we have been a basketcase! Pascoe hasn’t been here that long.
We are a self reliant club in the NRL meaning our books in the last few years have been in the pluses, rare in the nrl.
1) Pascoe has got our books right.
2) Got us a centre of excellence, not in he grandmothers basement (concord grandstand).
3) Academy in Campbelltown for kids in the area, noticeable presents with 1st graders in these areas. Much improved.
4) Got Betsey for youth development.
5) I reckon he had a hand in getting Dorothy on the board as well, again what people were asking for!
6) Got Sheens back to help with nrl
knowledge, which everyone was asking for.

Got more done than anyone else in our clubs history. He’s set us up for future success.
I just think we are a club that sucks and it’s not all the boses fault all the time. I think we need a better culture which isn’t easy to just create!
I know he’s not perfect but he’s done great things for the club as well.
Only sack him if u have someone better to replace him.

I kinda doubt this because of the line about Tigers recent results.

The reason we want these kids is to improve, it's no secret we are trash. It's the whole reason we are in this very aggressive, aggressive recruitment drive.

The volume, consistency and long term negative consequences of Pascoe's utter failures entirely out-weigh any of those supposed achievements!

The damage to the Wests Tigers brand he has presided over has been incalculable - meaning any success he has at improving our finances has come from cost-cutting and NOT building brand value or increased revenue!!

It is a false economy to reduce operating costs via cuttingthe club's salary cap liability - leading to the release of quality players and a bargain basement squad of losers!!

Where is the money being saved from Joe's release being used to improve our squad THIS YEAR??

It can't just be rolled over to next year's cap!!

It is all smoke and mirrors - with no financial statements released for several years now demonstrating how we have sacrificed success in our core business of football by cutting operating costs and gouging patrons - while our ACTUAL revenue continues to fall along with the reputation of the club/brand!!

The COE was built because of politcal expediency like EVERY dervelopment partly funded by the NSW Lib Govt (heard of pork-barrelling??) - nothing to do with astute lobbying by Mr Pascoe!!
