Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Losing Ben Gardiner was a real blow to the club. They boys loved him and he has real potential to be a properly good NRL coach. He'd have this group playing way above the level they are at now.

Tbf to the current coaching staff there are some real issues with the higher ups getting too involved in the football side of things. It's also happening at Manly and Dragons and we know how well they've gone in recent years.

Just had a quick look and @THE_POM hasn't posted on the Podcast Forum for at least 5 months.

Who ever he was may have been found out at the club and been shown the door or is just not privy to any information any more.

Did he come out with some Pascoe sacking imminent information at some stage and it looked like he had been set up to see who was leaking information at the club.

Just an impression I had but could be totally wrong.
Does anyone know who has left the club roughly last 5 months, that may have been THE POM???
Oh well when the day comes and Tigers sign a player we'll see if he comes on,

Remember the days we all would salivate when THE POM would come on with signing announcements bwahahahaaaaaaaa they were the days

State of Origin forward Tyson Frizell is set to hand the Knights a huge boost as he closes in on an extension to stay in Newcastle.

Frizell, arguably the biggest name on the NRL player market without a deal for 2024, is on the cusp of agreeing to terms with the Knights despite the lure of several rivals, most notably Benji Marshall and the Tigers.

Meanwhile, the Sharks have told rivals they won’t accept any approach for back-up half Braydon Trindall despite the 23-year-old’s struggle for regular NRL game time behind Nicho Hynes and Matt Moylan.

Trindall remains under contract at Cronulla until the end of 2025.
Bit disappointing about Trindall and but understand why the sharks won't release.
On the other side if I'm a young player like him I would also be pissed if a club asked me to come over on good money and play top grade and they said no. You never know how long your career is and imagine doing an injury in NSW cup and losing out on money and the opportunity.

Has anything happened in 5 months?

Dumb contract for him.

Seems since the new bloke came in?

In fairness, Sheens and benji have not delivered this year, so it's not necessarily a bad thing they are getting involved.

Do you just sit back when they are going bad?

Will do Ben good to be an assistant at Penrith in a good system and also to round out his experience working in different environments. More likely to actually fast track his development to a head coach. Who knows, could pick him back up as the head coach in 5 or so years.

The POM told me in a PM that he wasn’t involved in the club but he knew a person that worked at the club and would pass on bits of info from time to time.
Obviously something has happened to his contact, also he copped a hammering if something didn’t eventuate, he told me that the Aloiai Contract did a 360 in a matter of hours.
So things can change and inside info doesn’t always come to fruition.

Not concerned over the Frizell news. Bit disappointed Trindall is not available though. The potential halves market is getting smaller by the day.

We have so much recruiting to do !
Currently in our contracted top 30 for 2024 we have total of 21 players and that includes Douehi who probably won't take the field next year
The 21 also includes Kepoa ? wonder if he's up to it ?The list also includes Tumeth ,Rua and Reilly of which I've only heard Reilly getting support for 1st grade
So I think we got at best about 19 . Where are the other 11 coming from ?
How's Fulton going so far ?
Fulton WHO ???

Wayne Lambkin is supposed to be highly respected coach, maybe a of his problems is the squad changing every week.
I would have preferred Ben Gardiner to be kept somewhere within the Tigers setup.

If we were fair dikum about offering trindall a 1st grade starting spot and a up grade on his wages , then I would see him demanding a release , and we know what happens then . But I doubt we are trying to hard to entice any players in the nsw cup

You're right in the sense that he could kick up a stink and demand out if he wanted an NRL opportunity. It would put the pressure back on the Sharks. At this point in time we need to start doing some enticing of someone as there are realistically only 3 types of signings we can make in the halves.....
1) a NSW Cup half stuck and not getting a shot in NRL
2) a half from the English Super League
3) a young up and coming half looking for NRL experience soon

Outside of these, we would need to hope for a release of an unhappy player at a club.
