Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

No but dragging it out has not worked for us in any of our failed player attempts, maybe time to change things up , we have the cap, put a price up that we can live with and a price they want and set the deadline , can it get any worse
Well, by definition, failed player attempts are just that, whether we dragged it out or placed a deadline.

There are a considerable number of variables that contribute to a failed signing, but placing a decision deadline on a player during negotiations is a way to fast-track a rejection, particularly over continued negotiations.
'Changing things up' to a less-successful approach is silly.

...In my opinion.

If this is true, I'd call the joint a basket case, but that would be an insult to baskets. Lee reckons were committed to our 5 year plan, within the first 6 months undermined the football department by hiring Fulton without consultation, now potentially this. If it's true they're imbeciles and an absolute joke.
Mole is drip-fed by Sheens.

Seems there's quite the powerplay going on at the moment. But Sheens is on a hiding to nothing if he continues to air his dirty laundry through the media as I suspect may have been the case here.

I know the Sheens appointment has had many of us split down the middle since it's announcement, and despite seeing some on-field improvement in the way we have played football, the results have been dire.

But one huge positive for me is that it has really exposed Pascoe and Hepatitis being completely out of their depth. Say what you want about Tim Sheens but he knows how to play the game, and the way he answers questions to the media, and in post game press conferences present enough of an insight into the management of the entire organisation, for us to see the blood he is leaving in the water. The bread crumbs are being dropped. Whatever cliché you want to use.

As a fan, their leadership seems completely untenable, and if the current amount of pressure is sustained or increased, that pressure will spill over into club management - someone is going to fall and I think they're going to fall very soon.

I have no doubts Benji is regretting ever being involved again.
Benji's exit plan already in motion....when will this club ever deliver a positive headline....

I hear you, no doubt it happens, if I were running the Tigers and we had a draft I'd be telling the lads in the last 2 weeks to just have fun but don't win so I can get 1st pick.
A draft needs to happen in some form. I just can't see the anchor that is the RLPA allowing the discussion in any capacity right now.

Speculation, speculation, speculation ... until we hear & witness solidarity from the club, all we can do is speculate based on media stories.

So why does the club just put up Sheens & Fulton on 9's Sunday Footy Show to talk about their plan, working in unity and dispelling all the speculation! Quite simple really!

They don't have to mention names of potential recruits, just the type of players they are seeking, that they talk almost daily on targets & have a shortlist they have all agreed upon.

I know Fulton likes to stay behind-the-scenes but for the good of the club's image & dispel rumours, he should do this.

With the recent attacks from the Mole against the club, maybe the fall out is between Sheens and the mole. Every article seems angled negatively.

I think ur not getting what I was driving at , of course u have to do all the negotiations and see what the players want and tell them what we want from them , once that’s done , just say we need a answer with in a set time , that’s not hard to do

Arnt we still paying Maguire to not be part of this circus - the square peg in a round hole. Ain't that the truth.
He must wake up with a smile on his face every morning as we bumble from one embarrassment to the next while our leaders talk up a big game but clearly have no clue how to run a successful NRL club.

maybe Holbrook ends up here as an assistant?
can't see benji and Sheens wanting to stay given they can't sign who they want and can't coach who they want specifically Joffa and Brooks.
That's why we need an independent review of the club. So the investigator can survey external players & managers and ask why they knocked back the Tigers or won't consider us when another ok alternative is on the table? This is the type of info the powerbrokers need to see!

Just curious, but what are you thinking?

Benji walking away or Benji sacked?

I don't know if he will be here or not but jeez he must be feeling the heat even with Sheens being the one fronting the media at the moment.

The way things are currently going, I'm thinking that 3 spoons in a row is pretty much on the cards unless something pretty dramatic happens and believe me I've never wanted to be more wrong.

Pretty sure that Benji thought he was going to be a big recruitment magnet and things were all going to fall into place and he would have a team of super stars by the time he took over in 2025 backed up by a stack of quality juniors in closely following, but that looks to be a dream that has turned into a nightmare.

I guess our big hope now is that some of these juniors are able to come through and step up and then of course we have the problem that if any of them look like fulfilling their potential, staving off the opposition to retain them.

Im thinking Sheens has already had more than enuff, with the atrocious results under his watch(which clearly management have run out of patience with, even tho thayve been a major contributor along with Sheens),plus he being blindsided by Fultons appointment......Sheens wld be out of WTs tomorrow if he cld get his hands on his 2024 payout...
Im thinking Benji has very rapidly realised that hes neither a player magnet, nor a once in a generation coach by any stretch..quite the opposite actually...and being the competitor that he is, he'll give it a crack as the main coach next year for sure...but is quickly realising hisformer media gig on Fox is a helluva lot less accountable nor stressful as this coaching gig...and a lot more fun and rewarding
I think Benji will fall on his sword sometime in the next 12 months.....maybe Holbrook becomes a more than than useful addition to the coaching ranks during these turbulent times,as theres nobody else available

I would’ve thought Benji could influence his former fox sports colleagues to talk the club up. unfortunately they’ve turned against him.

Yeh I agree, I daresay that's very commonplace, if not ubiquitous.

It was more the 'You have until 5pm Friday or we pull the deal' type deadlines that kill negotiations immediately.
