Wasn't as bad as it could have been...

Exactly how I see it. There was a noticeable change in player resilience once Brooks was lowballed and Fultongate occurred - pretty much at the same time. Both were balls ups by management. Before these decisions the team was starting to show resilience and give us some hope.
Sheens knows how to build a culture of success and belief.

You can tell from the chairman’s interview on the WT podcast he’s a businessman and has a very top down management style.

There’s a clash in styles there, and the 2 things you mentioned above basically showed sheens and benji that management were willing to cut their legs out from underneath them. Could have been deliberate, could have just been negligent. Either way it’s bad and it shows these muppets have no idea.

Which Muppets? The coaching staff or management? I'm getting confused. Apologies.

Other 16 teams dont seem to have this dilemma. Most teams still have a chance to make it in the top 8. With 6 or 7 games to go. And their coaches you wouldn't touch with a stick.
Agreed, but we started getting some momentum, had some injuries to key players that really showed our lack of depth, then management do what they did. Unbelievable…for some therapy, see my last post in the food thread.

What we had was when we won a game a coaching staff that could not implement that culture as they dont have it themselves.

We’ve had coach after coach…no success. Coaches they have had success elsewhere. At some point you have to look at what else the problem could be, and management made 2 shocking decisions in the last 2 months, not to mention the countless others they made.

Who employs the coaches? Maybe they should be held responsible

Of course they should, but it’s more than that. No coach could succeed long-term with the current squad.
To me our current coaching appointment wasn’t a mistake, the team was improving and building for success. For success you need a stable halves combination, and they need confidence to be shown in them.
Getting Brooks offside (I.e by management) has killed any momentum that was developing.

If they don’t secure a better halfback for next year they’ll lose Bula, Da Silva, Feledy, Tupou etc. No one will put up with losing and they won’t risk their career like brooks did.

I’m honestly at the point where I don’t think I can support the Tigers anymore until drastic change happens. I won’t follow another team, so I’ll just stop watching NRL and take up marbles or something.

If you think about this TS you will probably realise what an ordinary throw away statement this is.
And you're not the 1st person to use it as I've probably said it myself.
People have the right to be just as passionate about footy as you are about whatever turns you on.

@cochise has said he would die for our club, and he has the right to do that if he chooses.
Lots of passion there.
But I reckon he would be just as passionate about his wife and daughter.

Older people like me who have had family and friends pass away...a loss of passion there so need something to replace that.
Older people like me who are maybe less active than we used to be so dont get around as much anymore, need something to replace that.
What about disabled people both physically and mentally who could be largely confined to their home, need something to be passionate about.

And last but by no means least...our Mods who give their time willingly to serve us by keeping this forum running. Like @Lauren raising a little boy as a single Mum. Lots of passion there not only for WT but her little boy as well.

Wests Tigers to a lot of people is "much more than just footy".
We get so much enjoyment out of seeing our team win...a loss of passion there atm 😡 but we keep on coming back for more in the hope of seeing our team at least put in a 💯 effort game for a change.

A lot of us are passionate about many things, probably even yourself, but to a lot of us on here WT footy is "more than just a game".
I stated my view and I stand by it. Nothing you replied with swayed me otherwise in the slightest.

I specifically said "to each their own", and that personally, I hold the view I do - an obviously too subtle attempt at extricating myself from appearing judgemental.

I'm sure you were just trying to emphasise the truism that different things have different levels of meaning to everyone. A hundred dollars means nothing to a billionaire, but could mean a family is fed for a week....

On which I'm sure we agree.

But don't reply to my posts with comments suggesting that if I really thought about it, I would see I had made "an ordinary throwaway statement...".

That's frankly derisive and arrogant.

Yep agreed. That’s where it’s at.
Don’t agree with your last paragraph though…I’m gearing up to ride this club all the way to its fiery conclusion.

Don’t agree with your last paragraph though…I’m gearing up to ride this club all the way to its fiery conclusion. Have you ever seen Dr Strangelove?

One of the best movies of all time and unfortunately a true representation of the attitude of many people who held power around the world then, sadly little has changed.

I think you were insinuating that things like relationships, family and health are more important than a game of football. For some people their entire upbringing, their relationships, their memories of lost relatives, precious memories of their childhood, they are all interwoven with a deep love of a club or a love of rugby league. So yeah, each to their own.
Yeh I was. The difference being how we are bound to what truly matters; For a lot of people that can be the club or sport.

This was better communicated by you and I understand.

It's a very subjective premise. Ironically, my dad played lower grades for Wests back in the day and over 40 years ago I chose to support Balmain. So since 2000, we've both been WT supporters. Yeh we bond by it, but Wests Tigers has a far lower place to me than other things I value more highly.

Connections to a club is different and I certainly have no issue with them being special to people.

To them, yes: it is more than just footy.

But although I am obviously passionate about the Tigers - I wouldn't be here otherwise - I personally believe sport has an incredibly inflated appearance of importance in (particularly) Australian society.

I yell after a great Tigers try. I get pissed off when the video ref overrules and says Bula knocked it forward.... But after my weekly dose of disappointment I have no problem switching straight back to my life.

To me... It's just footy.

You speak way too much sense mate. Easier to just jump on the Pascoe “sack Sheens” wagon and watch the vicious cycle continue. Now where’s my straight jacket.
It’s really hard to watch people screw something up that really isn’t that difficult.

I take that back, the discipline to stick to a process is difficult, but these guys consistently make the wrong decisions.
