Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I find this very hard to believe. Our mid term vision is to build a squad around our local juniors, surrounding them with quality proven players.
Our vision for this year was top 4, which seemed a bit delusional to me, but sin high and hope if you miss you're not too far off.
Our vision must include being top 8 next season, aiming for top 4 the following year and pushing for a premiership in the subsequent years, integrating juniors where possible throughout.

How can agents or players be so opposed to this?
Exactly. Perhaps “vision” as a term is being thrown around instead of “ego”.

All I can think of is that the club will come first which works against paying individuals overs for long periods regardless of the talent.

I don’t know why people think Fulton has so much power…
He works UNDER Tim Sheens and Benji.
They discuss our roster, identify a weakness and set a meeting with their recruitment manager. I expect it goes something like this…

Tim: Scott, we are short in the centres. We want a primarily defensive player who is more than decent in attack.
Fulton: Understood, I’ll put the feelers out.
Tim: Scott, it’s been a fortnight, how are we going?
Fulton: ok, I’m garnering interest from the managers of players X, Y and Z.
Tim: Player Y suits us. I’ll talk to the big wig and get the ball rolling.
Pascoe: Tim, Board is happy with player Y, we can go as high as $535K for 3 years. Company C can find a further $50k for him.
Tim: Scott, start negs, we can go 3 years, try and keep them under $550K all in. Meanwhile, keep player X on the hook. If this goes south, we can work with him.
Fulton: Will do.

Etc, etc, etc….he does not work autonomously. He is not an equal. He is under direction of the Head Coach who has to work within the parameters set by the Board through their rep, Lee and their direct report, the CEO. The Head Coach and the Board agree they need to strengthen the centres. The CEO provides context as to what we can offer and the Head Coach sends his Recruitment Manager off to secure the players signature.

If Fulton is running around disobeying the Head Coach, then piss him off. Insubordination should not be tolerated.
DO AS YOU ARE F%&$*NG WELL TOLD!!!!!
One of the best posts I have seen.
Well said Tucker 👍

Don’t disagree

Interesting 2 other player agents today reported share same concerns over sheens benji
The SMH are now reporting there are two in total.

This masthead can reveal two player agents with close relationships to Fulton held a meeting with the club last week to raise concerns about the development of their players under the Tim Sheens-Marshall coaching regime.

One of the agents in attendance was Mario Tartak, who pushed strongly with Tigers powerbrokers to employ Fulton. Tartak holds the key when it comes to the signature of highly sought-after Manly teenager Latu Fainu, who is one of his clients.
Fainu and his brother Samuela, who both featured in the NSW under 19 Origin win over Queensland on Thursday night, have been linked with a move to the Tigers given their relationship with Fulton but are holding off on making a decision.

The other agent present was Daniel O’Loughlin, the manager of NSW prop Stefano Utoikamanu and recruit recent Isaiah Papali’i.

Very scary what decision they will make next

🤣🤣🤣

Tim Sheens Head coach of Australia 2015. Four premierships.

Benji Marshall NRL Grand finalist 2021. Captained his country.

Justin Pascoe learned how to use graphs in Microsoft Excel 2018

Lee Hagipentelis once touched Luke Brooks jersey

Tim Sheens did get fired from the Wests Tigers and his last premiership was 18 years ago.

I wonder if we are re thinking our plans re Blore in particular and perhaps Seyfarth. I know it's a low bar but Blore has had a real impact of late so has Seyfarth, Blore almost looking like the best forward in our team atm in patches.
I remember seeing Shawn Blores play for the Junior Kangaroos. He was a standout player in that team. The potential is certainly still there based on his last few performances.

3 thumbs up B5,your a persistent bugger

Well they employed Fulton so if they backtrack it will make them look stupid. But they have endorsed Benji every step of the way so that causes equal hassle.
The answer imo is who can do the most for the club moving forward, and only they can decide that.
That is a weak answer.
They need to eat humble pie and support the Head of the Footy Department or they will set the team backwards.
Despite how they have performed this year, we cannot lose Tim and Benji so soon into their tenure. Especially if they are driven out by the board backing middle management and player managers over them.
No coach in the world will want to step into such a toxic work environment.

It's turning into a real nail-biter.

This was my favourite part of the article.

“The meeting was meant to be confidential,” Hagipantelis said.

This is what happens when pascoe and Lee strategy keep changing

First, let stop hiring coaches without WT DNA

Second, we want a recruiter to get the best players in Western Sydney.

I get strategies can be fluid but in this scenario you can't have both. So what happens next?

Also, operationally the contracts offered to tim and benji does not fit with both strategies.

The money spent on payouts could of been spent on kids, so they truly screwed themselves.

Would be cheaper for fulton to go, but it will send recruitment back.

If I was wrong I’d STFU
god bless ya,keep up the good fight buddy.the quicker change starts at the top the better, seems they may have just flushed themselves out as useless(if mondays meeting is true),cant see the media sit back and watch a team die thru incompetence with out stirring up a storm

A decision made by Wests Tigers management shouldn’t be used in an argument to prove a point.

Sheens Got us to within a field goal of a grand final in 2010 too and hasn’t coached all that much since. His record speaks for itself.

I was there in 2012 and letting him go was one of the few correct decisions this club has made.

In any case his coaching record ain't that flash imo.

How I see it playing out

1) Sheens gone as head coach > offered old role but sooks and walks

2) Benji head coach in 2024
- clipped wings in regards to recruitment
- Assistant capable of taking over employed

The fact that Fulton employed is admission that the Sheens 2nd coming has failed. 5 year plan dead after 6 months.

I then see benji being punted at the end of 2024.

If the board wants to protect themselves, they'll have to punt Pascoe to save face.

Interesting time ahead.

Listened to a grab of a show with Joel Caine on it from yesterday he talked about the Benji and Sheens stuff. One thing stood out from what he said which was why didn’t we appoint Sheens as head coach and employ Benji as his assistant no promises just learn and take it from there. If he’s good enough he can coach if he isn’t someone else steps in no issues. It’s really common sense stuff, imo if that was discussed Benji would have knocked it back because of his media gig.
Look at all the other assistants doing their time, Ryles,Hornby,Young what makes Benji the messiah that he just walks in no experience and everyone just falls in-line, I think the concerns from the player managers with youngsters on their books have valid concerns when you look at it like that.
Benji could be a good coach in time but he doesn’t have any runs on the board to be throwing his weight around. The club thought he would be a player magnet maybe it’s having the opposite affect.

The recruitment and retention committee have decided that Sezer is they direction the club is heading in.

When reviewing all available options it was decided that he was the best option. Apparently the Lebanese background meant it was more likely he had the biggest family support system, and would likely result in the most hats and scarves.

There's a piece of me that wants Pascoe and Lee to continue just to see what they get up to next. It's fascinating viewing..

How?
He is not working with the footy department.
Just running out and signing any good player who will talk to you is not what the procurement process for recruitment is all about.
The coach will end up with a hodgepodge of players filling out a squad that cannot be blended into a team.
