Why’s that?

Not being a smart ass just curious
I think it's just how he comes across @teddy23 that kind of arrogance, all-about-me persona plus being part of the Dragons covid breach barbecue & throwing one too many flick passes that don't come off. I had the same opinion of him but I have heard opinions that he is a really good team mate, very good trainer & Benji rates him so I'll take that over my opinion.

The pair are due to join the Tigers from November 1 and are seen as two of the best youngsters in the game after Latu, a five-eighth, and Samuela, a forward, performed strongly in NSW’s under-19s State of Origin victory last week.

While Canterbury never weighed in with an offer for the pair despite club supremo Phil Gould’s visit to their incarcerated brother Manase in prison, trumping the Dolphins’ own four-year offers for the pair is a sorely-needed win for the joint-venture.
Man.... we could have really used them earlier for the Finals.

I wonder if we can get them across pre-August 3 deadline. We can trade Tommy Talau which gives us 2 spots in our roster.

The goal is to have Latu ready for the 6 jersey come 2024 and give him the pre season next to Bula, Api and Seizer to see what he can do.

Mail was always the same - they were always coming but wanted assurance that Fulton was going nowhere given the speculation of a rift. The whole Dolphins scenario was always a leverage thing.

Some other news…. the same source also alerted me about Lomax wanting out months ago seems to be confident that we’re putting ourselves in the picture to get him next. Benji is driving this but up to 6 clubs have made enquires - what does work in our favour is that Lomax is a lot more keen on us than people would assume. However, Flanagan would prefer him to stay so maybe a Simpkin trade could work?

We’re also in box seat to secure Holbrook too but John Morris is being heavily heavily considered.

He also mentioned the club is looking for another halves player - wasn’t told any names.

That’s all I’ve got right now
Got a lot of time for John Morris, guy was played out of position for us, but he always gave 100%. Be nice to see him back.

Thanks for the mail @teddy23

Re. Lomax, given the contract he is reportedly on (after a quick search is reported at $550k or $650k), I think a trade is the only way we can get this over the line. Maybe Jake Simpkin but of similar value and duration is Nofa. I would love a Lomax for Nofa trade.

Re. assistant coaches, I'd hope we have a couple of others shortlisted in case of the all-too-familiar rejection - Hornby & Georgallis.

Re. halves partner - 2 things. 1- maybe yesterday's mail about a Warriors player could be true & I would think the likely candidate there given his versatility to play other positions is Te Maire Martin & 2 - a 5/8 that can play Centre or Hooker so he can move into the Centres or Bench when Latu is given the keys at various times next season. Possibly a Connor Tracey or Connor Watson type.

It's not mail, just my opinion.

Heard a few years ago that Latu Fainu could be better than Manase (the one in prison). Manase was so good that Manly let Api Koroisau go so they could keep him. And yet Manly followers in-the-know are saying that Latu is better? Wow, I am very intrigued by the prospect.

Samuela Fainu has a lot of work to do before he is ready for FG. Reminds me a lot of Stefano in his first year.

There was an article a month so to back that Lomax’s deal is backloaded and he is on about $750k-$800k for the remainder…

What a day,
@Kaito

Lomax, up next...
📝

As we discussed last month… Lomax has been terrible this year and been dropped at least once I can recall…

His contract has three years left… he gives me major Moses Mbye vibes … and that aint a good thing.

Edit - link here to an article about his current deal

Manase was really really good. Wasn't massively built around the shoulders but had a very wide base and hit like a truck. Good instincts too often seemed to pop up in the right spot in support or a loose ball.
I know/have seen very little of Samuela, is he more of an edge or a middle forward? looks like a big lump of a lad whatever he is...
