Forwards set the platform, rugby league 101, and they've been doing that all year. At least as well as any other team. When it comes to backline play I'm convinced we have the talent, we simply don't have the structure/shape/coaching. We don't have the halves, granted, but there's never been a structured play to get a 3 on 2 or even a 2 on 1. it's mechanical, just practice it at training like 14 of the 17 clubs do. Us, the dragons and dogs just can't seem to construct anything. It's coaching. It’s obvious we’re going to have a different opinion on this. I thought this team was good enough to potentially challenge for the top 8 on the back of a pre season of promise we were sold by the coaching staff & club. Yes, our backs are poor but some of the coaching decisions this season have been bizarre to say the least & there’s been more then a few games that I thought we would’ve won this season if not for poor coaching selections/tactics.
I think we should’ve been coached as a side to play to our strength this season which was our forward pack, instead we were sold a dream of 200 passes a day at training & blitzing the opposition with an attacking brand of footy. The games we simplified all of this & rolled through the middle were the games we won/competed most in.
