Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I hear you but I also see Munster and Hughes kill it. It's not a black and white issue.

I just want two quality halves. We've had a couple of averages halves in Brooks and Hastings (personally I think Brooks is better) and below average halves in Doueihi and Wakeham. Brooks and Doueihi are more runners and the others more organizers but I think the big issue is just getting a quality team on the park.

I like the idea of having some more options in the halves next year but mainly because we need to try different options because we are so bad.

I don't really give a stuff that we've lost Brooks and Hastings.
They are both history as far as I'm concerned but Hastings has been deathrided on here and the results show that he and the club he plays for are travelling a whole better than us and some just don't want to accept or admit it.

Hastings has his moments. I don't dislike him. It's not about playing one good game or a couple of good games. It's about consistency.

Doueihi for instance has had some games when I've thought he would be a star but he has those games one in every 20.

On Hastings my concern when we let him go was that he had a foot injury with us and once that was fixed his kicking game including goal kicking would improve considerably. That hasn't happened this year. His kicking game is average.

When it comes to Brooks my concern is that he is at the backend of his career and he may start finding some consistent form. He won't ever be great but as a secondary half I'm worried he is going to be really good.

Let's wait and see what happens.

I‘ll take a half playing a few good games this season

Eh. Be funny to see him without Kikau,Crichton and Toyota outside him. Instead he gets naden and nobody 😄
I do agree that he is in a star team with quality all around however I have often wondered if he plays second fiddle to Roger Ramjet on instruction? ie it’s Cleary’s team.

The times I have seen him without Cleary and he is the dominant half he has been impressive. He may be a little frustrated? He needs to lose the social media tags and change his off field perception but maybe a different environment where he is the marquee could be the making of him. Since he was dropped from Origin and had a point to prove - his form has been excellent

It‘s been funny the last couple years that he still got the no 1 jersey for NSW over guys like Turbo, Latrell and even Gutho. This year it was laughable and made me think the fix was in that he got the jersey over Edwards. And for Fittler to say “He’ll be here for as long as I’m coach”, well that’s one man who doesn’t care about his job.

It's interesting right. He has been a great player and he was the best player in the game. He just seems to not be as consistent now.

Some people always seem to want to argue the club makes the right call … I don’t get it

If that’s the stance we’re taking, it will be interesting when Manly are in the top 8 next year, and we’re still flailing at the bottom.

I'm more than willing to admit that Newcastle are traveling much better than us and Hastings is that teams halfback so he has an important role.

Our perspectives are interesting right because I see Hastings being overrated along with the organizing halfback but you see him being deathrided. I get it. I feel I overrated Hastings probably for the same reason people on here appear to be overrating him from my perspective and that is because we are so bad and just want an easy solution.

Brooks has played some great games this season. I reckon Wakeham has played some really good games as well.

We need a lot more than mate. We need a team of guys that are good and play consistently well.

Bateman is getting paid a squillion …he can harden up…

I believe the Knights would have moved on Klemmer regardless.. they wanted out of his contract
You do know that a lot of the Tigers hated Hastings. His personality is bad. We may have won 1 or 2 more games this year but the team culture would’ve been crap. Nobody would’ve wanted to stay, we wouldn’t have the massively improved forward pack and it would have been hard to resign key players and youngsters. Hastings leaving was the best thing for Tigers future even if it cost as this year.

We do need plenty … but I’ll never be convinced that moving on Hastings this season when he was relatively cheap and would have been motivated to play well to get his next contract was the right idea…

The lack of depth in the halves has been glaringly exposed this season

I never heard the rumours until Hastings was moved on … seems convenient… I had heard he had a falling out with Bateman in the UK… but build a bridge and get over it

Can guarantee there will be lamenting over Brooks - some are already predicting he will go to another level some of the same who didn't rate Hastings.
We all have differing views about who is/ was worth keeping and who isnt - winning is the only thing that will resolve the regret of players lost to clubs that are going better than we are.

Gone backwards after acquiring 4 international forwards… Hastings never got a chance to play behind this years pack ..
You .are Hastings sound like Andrew John's. Fair dinkum.

We might be 3rd last with Hastings here. Whoopee do.

With the coaching tactics put forward my Marshall and Sheens wouldn't matter who was halfback. Boring predictable football.

If the attack doesn't change next year then there is seriously something wrong with the coaches at this club.

Nobody is doubting that
- But you'd be an idiot to claim it's had much to do with him...
Gamble has been heads and shoulders the standout half for this year,
And in those early games - Everyone was banging on about Lachie Miller (And why didn't we sign him)

They're a better team...
They've got 3 times the amount of Origin Players in the team than we do...
Simple....
That's your opinion and it's not surprising. Others will see it differently. Newcastle are travelling better this year with him in the team and because it's results based game in the end that's all that really matters.
