Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Tell me about Will Craig please.
Very progressive centre/wing in Magpies SG Ball (bottom age) & Westfields SHS who is part of our earmarked pathways group (according to the recent WT article). Has filled out physically since last season in Harold Matts and looks a very strong powerful reasonably fast outside back (not overly tall) on both sides of the ball. Great combo with Lachlan Galvin, Tallyn Da Silva & Luke Laulilii.

Love Noddy. Took on a poisoned chalice of a job last year and gave it his best shot even though he, and everyone else knew he had no chance of achieving any success. Deserves all the accolades he and his girls are now getting, and will, hopefully keep getting,
Noddy would have known what he was in for.
I think he would have been advised others would pick the side, just coach what your given, do the press conference and we will look after you for next year.
You get to coach the women's side and we are recruiting to have a top notch side-------happy with that. YES!

I get the negativity around Sullivan but he's a good signing for us. He's so far been an erratic running 5/8 type but he has big potential and could be a good NRL player if he sorts it out. I think he could be an organising half if he played more consistently, but he obviously hasn't proven that yet.

Our options are limited, these are the sort of players we have to sign: promising young ones at other clubs that aren't getting a go. I don't see any other way.

He may not work out, and that would be another big disappointment, but there's not a better alternative to this approach.

How many times would people like us to fail at signing big name players before accepting this sort of signing?

Is think so too... Cogger out of the equation... Sezer and Sullivan not at his level.
Is walker a free agent?
I don’t think so , maybe got 1 more year , but he is on the nose at the roooters, and they want to overhaul there team so he maybe they would release him , offer him 4 years at his current rate or a touch higher

People are overhyping the Sullivan signing a little too much.

He still has a lot to prove until he's looked at as a long term 7 option. He's exactly what we need though as a backup option to put some pressure on not only himself but our halves within to compete for the 7 spot. He has talent but his issue has been translating it to FG hence why Dragons are happy to let him go but he's definitely an improvement on Brandon Wakeham/Will Smith.

I would still be looking for a marquee 7 to partner Fainu long term. Dearden is my choice as the Cowboys have some cap issues and not too sure if they can improve there 660k offer too much.

Assuming deardon is available for 25

Sullivan is a risk, no doubt, but he's 21 which is very young for a half.

It's important to remember Moses left us he was 22 and I think most of us thought he was a weak person, a tanker, and absolutely not a game manager. He's still an unlikeable person, but he's matured into a top halfback.

Time will tell if he develops like Moses or like Brooks. Admittedly we haven't done well with this in the past.

Honestly what do you expect from Fulton he has only ever done first grade recruitment for 6 months at Manly and was shown the door he needs time to learn he is only a rookie hopefully Lee has given him Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon's book The art of the deal or what ever it was called
Now I'm confused Lee and Pascoe want to fix our recruitment so they bring in a rookie recruiter who was shown the door at his previous employer ?

Normally I don't get involved in these discussions, but I think you're right. We have been struggling for depth big time. Sullivan will provide a few things for us. Depth, youth and a bit of X factor. Like you say, he is still very young for half in the NRL and a few his age have elected to keep playing reserve grade and learn their trade then chase the big time early.
I'm not sure on the price, but on rumoured numbers including Sezer if he comes, there is no way we have overspent with an ever increasing salary cap.
Attitude is a symptom of youth and most people grow out of it. As far as potential, he has it, obviously the challenge is to realise it, the ball will be in his court.

We are rumoured to be chasing the Broncs young prop, forcing up the $ they have to pay to retain Haas is a good move. I couldn't envisage him ever contemplating a move to the WTs, which I believe is a good outcome for us.
Im hoping that it extinguish the rumour that we are signing a current NSW Origin player that will be a bigger signing than Api and Isaiah Papalii .. ;-)

mark my words... sullivan is going to be another shite signing... Flanno has shifted him onto us... because he knows how to rebuild a roster...

my father turned 80 this year... he loves saying "he who lives in hope, dies in hope"...

Sullivan is another "hope" signing... another guy who has a poor reputation at another club -- but that "we will get the best out of him... because he needs a change, needs a go, we have the best coaches who are similar to him etc etc"...

The guy has a bad attitude to training, a string of hamstring issues, and was unwanted, has played a handful of games and is unproven - yet we have taken him for 3 years? lol. to be our what 6, 7? start as 6 and then move to 7 when Sezer leaves so Fainu can play 6? Can be our #14 if he doesnt work at 6 or 7? So basically like another Douehi or Mbye -- they worked out well. lol.

My cousin is a major sponsor of the dragons -- speaks to the coaches -- goes into the dressing before and after games -- and said everyone is glad to see him leave... Flanno was just bluffing they wouldnt chip in... and now we are getting him lol
Hmmm if true, it sounds like we’d have been better off keeping Laurie. I hope it doesn’t turn out to be another one of those Brooks over Hastings decisions.
