Exactly this, Stats are just measuring certain reliable indicators, they contribute to our understanding, but the map is not the terrain… meaning that certain things that are very very hard to quantify usually determine the outcome,, for instance a missed tackle can look the same on the stat sheet but the way it is missed, where, how badly missed, and who it was on all determine its importance to the outcomeOnce again great stats but your jumping to conclusions.
Our backs are rubbish. No arguments there.
As you stated as fact majority of the points scored are from 10 meters out and in the middle of the field.
Who scores them by chance? The backs?
I know that simply a game is won and losses by points scored and conceded but it’s not a matter of out scoring a team to win the game as Tim believes. It’s about wearing down the opposition, giving them nothing and gaining everything. The best sides are still the best defensive sides. Do you have a stat to dispute that?
Our forwards are an improvement on last year. But as Earl mentioned we still expect more. Is that wrong to want?
