I really think it's a players market. If you cannot recruit good players you are done no matter who the coach is.

Are you serious ? We are talking about the halfback . This isn’t just any player on the field . Especially one who’s been given the keys for so long and had public and private backing . The best ones are all getting min 1.2 mil . And I dare say the next truely great one , as I don’t think there’s one running around right now , will get 2 mil . That comes with responsibilities. Brooksy is on 1 mil at least . He can’t do everything , but he should be doing everything he can .

Monday should be review of your performance as well as a review of the performance of your key peers .
Tuesday should be a clear way to strategise around your deficiencies, and moving towards implementation around your own game of key ways to improve . Wednesday should be about implantation and brainstorming around what’s working and what will work . The back half of the week is about execution and real time implantation , culminating in the captains run to iron out kinks .
You telling me copper Cronk wasn’t doing that ? You telling me DCE doesn’t ? Hunt ? You reckon hungry as all get out up and comers aren’t scouring through tape as we speak watching subtleties around elites to look for ways to improve .
It’s literally the difference between greatness and not .
And I love brooksy . But he obviously had no desire ever to be great. And that’s a real shame . Because he really could and probably should have been one of the greatest , now he will (hopefully) be the custodian of our worst ever 10 year stretch . Remembered in the same way as NBA players like Stefan Marbury , gun players who lost more than they won . And it never made sense how that was possible .

I think with Heighington we knew what we were loosing... A good quality forward.
Who we replaced with a wrecking ball in Adam Blair... It wasn't the right decision yet I understand it.

Austin, Sironen have their downsides but it is sad we have lost them. Particularly as Siro would just suit that "ball playing lock" role we seem to keep banging on about.

Yes, im serious.
Check what ive said. I didn't say he shouldn't do any video work. He should definitely be reviewing his own game and the last few of his upcoming opponents. The team should also be doing video work of the opponents with clips of their whole season showing their patterns and areas to exploit. This is prepared by the coach and his staff, not the halfback.
But come Monday I don't want them watching any games that isnt theirs or their opponents. It only clouds the mind when greater clarity is needed.
Scouring tapes of greats probably doesn't involve much footage of O'Sullivan and Katoa. Plus its a preseason thing so definitely wouldn't be any Dolphins footage.
Brooks comments don't suggest he hasn't done any of the necessary work. It also doesn't suggest that he has. It is a nothing comment that people are reading to deeply into.
 
So Blake Austin did end up signing with the Tigers, the Castleford Tigers.
It's a weird move as it's an immediate transfer to a club trying to avoid relegation from a team in finals contention.
It looked like he didn't get along with our man Sezer just watching Leeds play. He overcalled everything and wanted the ball every play.
Ironically in his first game for Castleford this morning he hardly touched the ball at all.

That is re-iterated on a tip sheet...

Been that way for a very long time.

Brooks mentioned they (Or he) hadn't done video on the opposition.
Or more so - That he didn't watch their last game... Which would (And has been) assumed as one and the same.

I can imagine most players leave this club for another and it would feel like leaving Kansas and entering the world of Oz
 
Is anyone that was outraged by Joe leaving still feeling that way after watching his insipid performances for Parra?
28 minutes last night and I had to check the team list to make sure he was actually on the field.
Parra trying to play their style of bashing the opposition into submission with Cartwright and Joe as starters was laughable.

Mate, we signed Pap and Api and are still dead last. What’s a 33 year old half who hasn’t played NRL for nearly 5 years and an unproven kid going to do for us?

Read somewhere he bagged the club out on a podcast.... then was moved on.
The fans didn't like it (him being moved on)
