Alex Seyfarth #232

I've always like the guy. He keeps going. His last hit-up is as strong as his first and when he gets smashed he just gets up and goes again.

My biggest concern with this team is getting our middle forward rotation right. We have a bunch of really good middle forwards and we need to keep the right ones.

Starting Props:- Stef & Klemmer
Starting Lock:- Fonua Pole
Bench Props:- Alex Twal, Shawn Blore
Bench Lock:- Alex Seyfarth

Samuela Fainu is also going to have to get a shot somewhere. If he comes on as an edge forward well one of the middles will have to make way for IP or Bateman.

We also have Chris Faagutu & Kit Laulilii coming through the ranks.

I bet this is an unpopular opinion but I think signing Klemmer was a mistake. He is a big middle forward like Stef but I think we look better when we have more mobile faster middle forwards like Twal, Pole and Seyfarth ripping in. Having Klemmer on a long term contract takes up a spot that we need to give to other guys.

I wouldn't be fussed if Stef or Klemmer go. They cost big dollars and I think Pole, Twal, Blore and Seyfarth are better for us.
Agree Earl, Klemmer has a big heart abut his ability to bend/break the line is diminishing. Big money outlay for someone like that. Think he’ll turn into a bench player to conserve him.I’m also thinking Bateman may be heading that way as well. Lots of money tied up in those 2 .
I sense a bit of Packer, Matalino, Blair and Tamou in those guys.
I think Stef next year will be a make or break season, big enough but imo something lacking.
Need to reassess our forward sutuation at year end and see how best to balance the pack moving forward.

I think Seyfarth offers a point of difference above all of our other forwards in that he can straighten our attack. We look more cohesive when he plays that link role and he defensively sound.

He still gets battered when taking hit-ups although he does seem somewhat stronger this year but that is not his real value. If we use him similar to the way Penrith use Issiah Yeo, I think he is a definite keeper.

Good point bbobb. I bagged him previously but can see there is something to work with now, I think a lot of his issues were confidence related and he seems a lot better in that department.
Now needs to really work on his ball playing skills and we may be surprised.

I view this as an admittance that he isn't good enough. I don't think he is that bad but if anyone is stating this now then it's clearly an issue when we are year 1 into a long term contract.

I'm worried about Bateman as well.

Recruitment needs to be smart. I'm not convinced Sheens got it right in Bateman and Klemmer. Let's see how they go next year.

Madge's signings in Api and IP are leaps and bounds better.

Except that both Koroisau and Papali'i were also signed under Sheens.

Now that he's playing the way he promised early on is there any chance of him picking up a weight in the off season.
He can start with the 1kg ladies purple rubber ones and work from there.

Klemmer was bought to show the young guys how to go about their job , and also help us out , our pack this year is the best in 5 to 10 years ,Klemmer , Bateman , Papi , API. all experienced and that’s why we’re good in that department

Sorry guys, i disagree with you both on this occasion.
Klemmer provides leadership and experience. He is not a ball playing prop (which Sheens tried to get him to play like). He is your typical grunt hard hitting prop which he needs to get back to playing like.
Halves play off the back of go forward momentum, and Klemmer is the king of that. That trait does not disappear but can be coach out of you.
Benji just needs to get him playing simple, tight, tough football like we all know Klemmer for. Klemmer is only 29 years old and still has so much great football ahead of him if we play to his strengths.
He is no where near a Packer, Matalino, Blair or Tamou.

Klemmer and Bateman probably end up off the bench down the track , but both do what we need of them Bateman yesterday was very good , loads of tackles , runs and a great run and pass that we scored off

We are going to get the wooden spoon two years in a row. I can't believe anyone thinks our pack has been good enough.

I’d just like to see a line break or two. We’ll see how he stacks up when next season rolls around.
PS. I’m more than happy for he and Bateman to prove me wrong, but I’ve just hit a feeling our pack makeup next year may be a little different.
Only time will tell.

They've both had plenty of positive moments this season. They haven't been poor.

The issue is though they are on big dollar contracts and they look to be heading for the bench already. They will contribute over the course of the season but I see other guys as being better players or maybe better suited to us.

Pole gives you footwork, a quick play the ball and the ability to make a bust. Klemmer just sort of trundles along. Stef is very similar to Klemmer but to me has more impact.

Bateman has some skills and he works hard. I like him. At the same time he isn't a tackle busting edge backrower.

Our pack has Been great it’s our attack 10 mtrs out that screwed us all year, nobody in our halves ( Brooks ; Wakeman ) could get us over the line , check yesteray , Appi and Laurie in the half’s and we went well , fist game together for them as well , wait till next year , adding Sezer and Sullivan to the pack and Appi back to Hooper we improve , just need to add a good centre now

I like your optimism but I think the idea that it's all the halves that are the issue is wrong but hey that is just me.

Seyfarth will go alright when the team is going well. He is never going to be a game changer but just like those who loved to bag Eisenhuth there will be coaches who see value in him because the bloke never gives up.

Are you serious??? What a ridiculous statement!
He is a prop forward. He does the dirty tough work such as control the middle of field, gets us on the front foot, tightens our defense lines etc.
Line breaks do not make a Prop Forward.
I think he has been a great purchase for the club regardless of results. Props do not lose games, but poor game plans and poor playmakers do.
Klemmer is all in 100%. Enough said.

Bateman has been good the past couple of weeks playing more direct.
He needs to tighten up is spacing in defense as he has missed 2 defense reads which have led to tries in the past 2 weeks but overall he has done okay.
He is your unconventional backrower but plays with 100% all heart and he will help change the culture we have at this club. Glad he is at our club.

Lol so Seyfarth finally manages to string a couple of games together where he isn’t complete garbage, in a contract year coincidentally, and we have a bunch of fools on here wanted to re-sign him. Stupidity and short term memory is truly ingrained in the Wests Tigers fanbase. He has been mediocre for 95% of the time he has been here.

We even have the usual suspects going as far as saying we would be fine letting go of Klemmer and Stef but I wouldn’t expect anything less than room temperature IQ takes from posters like earl.
Yet again, I’m this place - differing opinions = fool.
I’d rather read a respectful post that differs from my point of view than a smart arse having a crack at another post like yours.
And just so you understand the message and to speak your language, Piss off fool!
