Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The sweating on Hastings to fail as if it somehow makes being a supporter of Brooks feel better or justified is pathetic.
Brooks chose to move on and there are numerous justifiable reasons why. A hard pill to swallow for his fans but geez you need to let it go.

Can’t believe the bitterness over Hastings that more than a few have here…

One thing that both Brooks and Hastings have in common… I’ll bet they are both overjoyed to be out of this club…

It worries me how long we persisted with a Brooks/Wakeham Combo and left Daine to languish in ressies.
No one could identify that he might go alright at 6?
I expected that he would be a bit rocks or diamonds, and he has given away a few dumb penalties, but for the most part he's been pretty seamless into the 6 and he's looked way better than he ever did as a fullback.
I worry that we've brought in Sullivan, who has a very similar game to Daine, but will take time to build connections with new halves and spine partners. Seems more and more like 2024 could well be another write off...

It’s so Wests Tigers that they look like they had a guy that could play 6 all along, but for one reason or another, he never got an opportunity to show us until he signed with Penrith.

Only defence of the coaches possible is that when we were looking for someone to come into the side instead of being forced to play Wakeham week after week, he was in the NSW Cup sulking and stinking it up,.. maybe if he knuckled down things might have been different and he wouldnt be on his way to reserve grade at Penrith

I agree, he has looked good and it's disappointing he wasn't there from the start. There were some other factors at play though. Those who watch a bit of reserve grade say his attitude wasn't great after being dropped. Plus Bula was the only fit fullback at the club for a while and I'm sure they were worried about how his body was going to hold up after hardly playing any footy against grown men. Then there was a concussion which kept Laurie out a week or two, broken leg last year.

To be honest I think he is playing with a little more freedom knowing that he is going back to Penrith next year.

Does it have anything at all to do with Hastings. My opinion is that a bunch of posters hate Brooks so much and think the club is a mess and they continually go on about how good Hastings is as some sort of proof that they are hard done by.

I've watched Hastings a bit this year and he has been pretty ordinary. It's definitely not bitterness from me. I'm stoked that he hasn't been that good. I hope Brooks is useless next year as well.

You keep saying Hastings has been ordinary this year … I keep saying that’s your opinion only and many think otherwise. I don’t think 90 % of the Knights fans would trade Hastings for ANY 6 or 7 who played for us this year…

I could care less if Brooks wins the Dally M next year… I‘m more interested in what the Tigers do

honestly it's on Daine. he's always had the talent but his issue has been with intent and attitude. every man and his dog could see that he had the ability, but he was playing in second gear every week in Cup because he was sooking. unfortunately for him that's not the way to do things.

I wish him the best at Penrith and I hope he's able to find some consistency, but Latu Fainu does everything that Daine does at five-eighth 3x better.

It feels like all the Laurie bandwagoners didn't watch him in KOE and are rewriting history.
Sheens mentioned giving him a go at 6 before he was out with injury only to return having a huge sulk session in reserves. He made himself unselectable.
When I look at his performances in NRL at 6 I see a guy who still makes careless mistakes that lead to opposition points.
That offside penalty that led to a Dolphins try was unforgiveable and he does that sort of thing regularly.

Apart from all that we now have an upgrade in Sullivan.
He has the pace to capitalize on half breaks.
Laurie can create holes for himself but he just doesn't have Sullivan's pace to get through.
Other KOE watchers can confirm that 60 year old Jordan Rankin gave him 10m headstart and ran him down in 50m.

We have two very exciting young halves in Fainu and Sullivan joining the club at a time when halves are scarce. I am excited that the club has acquired two young halves who have x factor. Sezer will be good for the club as a stop gap and has a role to play. Brooks has decided to leave and I wish him well. He has secured the future of his family on a good contract. Can we please cut out the nastiness as it demonstrates a lack of class.
Well said

If it's purely the fact that he didn't act like a professional then fair enough, completely agree that he gives away very dumb penalties too often.
But his individual stats seemed pretty good in KOE and they seem to be converting into the NRL too. He contributes points and that is something we have struggled with all year.
It just seems like a situation that has been mismanaged by all parties (Daine included) but something that could have been managed better.

That was a big win for Leeds. It keeps them within 2 points of the finals.
Sezer gets the job done under pressure with Blake Austin leaving the club during the week.
Do we know when Sezer is going to be confirmed?
I think he will be a very good buy to control control ship until Fainu and Sullivan are ready.
He has a great kicking game which we lack.

The club has been telling us for a year now 2024 will be a write off with all focus on 2025.
