Are we a well coached side?

What’s the expectation around Benji ? Should we write him off already?

We definitely shouldn't write him off. The expectation should be anything other than dead last is an over achievement so he is in a good position.

I think any reasonable person needs to give him more time
From what i’ve been told the players love Benji & love playing for him. If Benjis main focus can be man management & let John Morris & hopefully another assistant handle all the X’s & O’s then I think there will be improvement. But to say we’ve been a well coached side this season is ludicrous.

We have gone backwards this year because we have a stronger side with worse results
That needs qualification.

Our defence is better especially goaline allowing for higher aggregate scorelines across NRL.

We have a stronger forwards roster.

But a weaker backline roster accentuated by the non availability of our best 4 backs for large parts of the year.

Brooks
AD
Naden and
Staines.

That leaves Bula and Tupou as our best backs.....1st year rookies.

The test comes next year with our intact pack roster and many backline additions.

No excuses for coaches next year.

No we are not a well coached side. Yes we have crap players. Thats why we have two spoons in a row. Be honest if everyone quit tomorrow there would not be many losses. However there would be many unemployed people.

Roosters have had a decent weekend against the club.
NRL got done 8-32
KOE got up 44-32
Jersey Flegg got done 14-34
NRLW got done 10-48

They got us at a rate of 146- 76 (27 tries to 14) across the four games.
Whole joint sucks to hell.

I certainly would not write Benji off, the same way as i do not write rookie players off.I would hope that he will have until mid 2026 before the morons in charge try to hold him and his assistant coaches to blame. The back to back wooden spoons we have are both mainly on Sheens and our administration imho

This years spoon is Benji’s as much, if not more so than Tim’s

No.
We get rid of winners and keep average players.
I don't understand the rationale.
Imagine a halves pairing of Hastings and Laurie this season. We wouldn't be spooners again.
We went all-in on Brooks and it didn't pay off. He was given every excuse in the book. "He doesn't have the forward pack. Farah is too dominant at hooker. Blah blah blah." We also expected more from Douehi.

Lets put this into perspective shall we....Sheens as an NRL coach has passed him by,but has football knowledge and winning a premiership for us 18 years ago,he should never have been employed as NRL coach after Madge was sacked.. We should have searched for an experienced coach with no ties to the club and Benji as assisstant,,Benji will become a very good man manager as well as an NRL coach, but this will take time and hard work,he should have been sent to lower grades to learn the coaching techniques required to become head coach of an NRL side..
We have a very good forward pack and the best 9 in my opinion in the NRL,they work hard at getting into the red zone only to be let down by poor options and panic moves by the inexperienced youth in the backline..
To be a well coached side you need quality NRL players in 90% of your team that understand the game,Benjis problem is he has to much youth and with talent BUT are still learning the game, this is where coaching a kid to play a position stands alone to coaching a side all on the same page when it comes to structures and game plans..
We arent poorly coached as such we are poor in the football smarts in the players department and this will take time and a lot of work in the preseason to even contemplate climbing the ladder next year, experience and some smart players coming to us will be a Godsend,it will making coaching the team a heck of a lot easier for Benji...

Seen some people say that we’re a well coached side so interested to see everyone’s thoughts/opinions on the matter. I personally think a team that has the worst attack in the comp & has only won 4 games this year is far from a well coached side.
The argument is not that we are well coached, the argument is that no matter who the coach, you need the cattle. Cleary, Madge, Sheens and Potter have all had success when they have had cattle.

I think this is the best cattle we’ve had in a while so to finish last again is a massive disappointment.
Our best back is a half season rookie.

I’m not sure you are comparing us to the best sides in the comp, who are absolutely stacked with first graders and stars.

Edit: We lost quite a few close ones but we were obviously a bottom four roster imo.
