I'm not sure but I think I've read where clubs yes obviously still have to pay the injured player full wage I think clubs have in the past been given permission by the NRL to have that money outside the cap and re spend that amount on a replacement due to full season injuries
Can anyone confirm this

The end-of-season internationals scheduled in October (to finish Nov 4) will mean some of our players will have a delayed start to pre-season again. Impacts all Pacific nations & England.

Thankfully for us, we'll probably be one of the clubs with fewest involved, most likely only Api, Ice & Bateman.
Then going by this season, pre-season training should start the first week in November.
Api, Ice & Bateman (internationals) and Doeuihi (injury) should hopefully be our only players to miss pre-season when it returns. Surely Naden is fully recovered by then & Sezer is on deck.

I believe that is only the case for players injured on rep duties. Happy to be proven wrong as I'm not 100percent

This international stuff has to be played else where given how important the off season is
Please i hope our club is not fooled by Fulton or Benji wish to be in the Schuster sweep stakes as i believe Manly want to move him on whether it is now or within 12 months' time i know for a fact that a Manly official did approach Parramatta and they are not interested under any circumstances. The bloke has no heart or desire so why waste money or time on him.
On Papalii do not believe his smoke and mirror act he wants a move to Parramatta or Warriors and his halfhearted performances later more than show he really wants to be somewhere else.

The 'paycut' was based off an imaginary 1.2 million bid that we 'supposedly' made for him, so his taking 800k was seen as him accepting much less money than what was said to be out there. Even though we had signed Latu, and were focusing on Sezer and Sullivan. So he actually got a pay rise based on his previous contract at manly, which he hadn't really earned, and even got dropped a month later. So year 3x800k extension for someone now playing reserve grade, playing poorly and with a questionable attitude is alarming for them to have been played like that by his agent.

Ice, Bateman, Api, both Fainus, Blore, Pole, Toa, Utoikamanu, and even Tupou are possible getting a call up. possibly some juniors like S Saukuru, Jordan Miller get called up to Fiji, Kit may get called up to Tonga for experience (less likely given their strength). So we may see a number of boys called up... Who knows how many established players pull out of national team matches or how much depth the pacific teams have, there's often a few obscure players so our top juniors may well be in the reckoning.

They won't be able to move him on without putting up a considerable sweetener. I couldn't care less really hope they sink in the salary mess they have created.

You know, they are still in good shape, our club actually paid Luke Brooks 1.1 million dollars this season … I’m starting to think he had kompromat on the entire board

you take the hit on the salary cap not the club. If we need to pay 300k of nofo's 450k contract that comes from the cap not the club payment so makes no difference if wests tigers a s aclub are in a good financial position or not.
Secondly why would nofo go he has a contract for the next 2 years.
if the club didn't have the balls to say to talau you either transfer to storm in trade for Ado Carr or you spend the next year in reserve grade, I can't see them telling nofo he will be playing reserve grade if he stays. It seems to have worked for Penrith when they told mansour to hit the road and he went to souths.

That's nice in theory but in reality WT are not in a position to knock back shuster or fulton players.
You cant actually threaten someone with reserve grade. Part of the contract is the side must be selected on merit. Now I'm not arguing Talau was worthy of his spot on merit, nor necessarily Nofoaluma for that matter, but you can be held in breach with such a threat.
Penrith worded it right by saying to Mansour we believe you have fallen down the pecking order and your welcome to leave. Saying you need to leave to this club because we have a better option lined up is not wording it right.

I do find these things interesting.
Offered more from another club is interesting given he wasn’t free to negotiate contractually & if we formally offered him something Manly would be all over us at NRL HQ. Benji said no to him so no offer formally came from us.
He was off contract end of 24 signed an extension for reportedly 800k with zero positive form on the board. That is overs and for the outlier years he is getting a bump as he had no contract from 25 onwards (nor would be be getting that size of a deal at another club on current form).
Manly kept him in fear because they lost the Fainu boys. Hope Josh turns himself around on his day one heck of a player but he is turning into another Owen Craigie already which isn’t great.

Think Brooks manager had been speaking with Manly for some time,and aware that Tigers were going to be denied Schuster, speculated that WTs wld eventually up our offer to Brooks... so locked him up at premium price
..and figured Schuster wld be all ok as a ball playing backrower..without discussing it with him..
In the end,Manly got both their targets....but be careful of what you wish for..when DCE gets injured as is inevitable in yr mid 30s...

You can tell a player they're fourth or fifth in line for a place and while they're welcome to stay and fight to move up the pecking order (or hope for injuries) if they want to ask their agent to see if anyone has a better outlook for them the club won't stand in their way. You can also say the club is prepared to cover some of their salary to make that move more likely. It's basically saying "if you stay here you're starting in reggies" without the dramatics. Of course the player can say "f- you, I'm staying till my contract runs out like it or not" but it's not really in anyone's interest to do that - you'd have to assume the vast majority of players would rather be in first grade somewhere.
The problem with Nofoaluma is that I genuinely wonder if there's a club in the NRL that views him as a viable first grade winger at this stage. If he was a free agent I'm sure he'd pick up a train and trial, but that's not going to help us offload him as it would basically mean paying all his salary in return for nothing more than freeing up a roster spot. TBH it wouldn't totally surprise me if that's what ends up happening; if we're lucky someone might offer him $200k. It really was a quite astonishingly bad deal we gave him (though it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's surpassed in time by the one we gave Bateman).

Nofa is totally unemployable in NRL ,so hes our problem for the next 2 years unfortunately.Hes locked in on big $$,so not his problem
Bellamy had a peek last year,but whenever Olam made a line break(no speedster himself btw) and looked for his winger ... Nofa was 10 metres behind!!No surprise hes back with WTS
..and hes even slower this season..and less willing to take up the tough hit ups
Think weve gotta recruit better knowing hes gonna be KOE performance until his contract ends
Another WTS stalwart goes sideways then backwards then out..just like his normal game day!

Not that I want Nofa in the team, however will we be able to claim the entire 200k long service compensation as he only guy eligible after Brooks leaving.
The reported 550k is likely 350k which doesn’t hurt so much on salary cap.
