LIVE GAME 2023 Grand Final discussion

Live Game Discussion
Should be only a matter of time before he clicks in a SOO series. Club footy wise he has surpassed those names already. Cleary still has a good 8 more seasons in the tank.
Yes I agree.
Cleary owned the 2021 origin series.
The bloke is 25.
By the time he is done, his name will be on par with those guys at minimum in rep footy. As far as clubland goes, a 70.4% win rate from 159 appearances, with 4 GFs, 3 premierships and 2 Clive Churchill’s gives him an awesome platform to pass them all.

Ill be kind and assume yo uare a kid. A Johns wouldnt have missed those three tackles leading to tries and would have carried his team home the same. Cleary is also yet to dominate at SoO level.

Johns is the GOAT by the stretch. Cleary is in the same discussion as the Sterlings, Stuarts, Langers etc which is pretty high praise.
He’s lead his team to 3 consecutive premierships and he’s only 25. But ok.

Still cant believe Penrith did the comeback with Yeo in HIA and Luai out injured. Then the final try with Tago injured.

Ivan Cleary has bred some different type of monsters there.

However I disagree with people saying "best GF ever".. the first half was absolutely dog crap
The first half was one of the fastest club games I’ve ever seen.
Penrith were perfect until just before half time.
Brisbane were throwing heaps at them but we’re being repelled to the point the errors flowed. When they came off at halftime, they were truly buggered.

Crichton is just about my favourite player currently... Will be interesting and probably sad to see how he goes at the Doga
Penrith found another way to win... To have to do it under the pressure of a GF was remarkable.
They got a bit. Lucky Broncos had it then gave it back
How do the Panthers that have left with 2 or 3 rings go to the Dogs and bring that same enthusiasm to win? They’ve won it all

I wanted riff to lose but they deserved the threepeat after that comeback.
If only we had a smart administration junior chin would have been playing for us. 🤬
But I guess he is a riff junior so fairs fair. Their fans would have felt like us with Tedesco winning comps for the rorters.

Sydney crowd's supporting the Broncos.
I've seen it all.
Heard Peter Wynn on the radio earlier in the week saying he could not believe how much Broncos merchandise was going out the door.

Obviously a lot of Sydney siders not too keen on the 'Riff doing the three peat.

What a luxury...
To have Cogger & Garner on your bench.

🚮🚮🚮
LOL @ Peachy as 18th man not getting a Grand Final ring.

Good luck to Garner, gone from the shit house to the pent house in a season.

Imagine scoring a hatrick in a GF and losing !
I thought his defence was good also. Definitely enhanced his value.
Imagine winning the CCM and losing. Ask DCE and Wighton how that feels. And even further back to the early 90’s. Bradley Clyde and Brad Mackay.

Only caught the last fifteen minutes or so whilst eating, but I have little to no doubt that either one of the Crichton or Cleary tries, or even both are stopped with Bula, rather than Walsh at the back.

Fullback is a tough position, but Walsh was really found lacking late in the game, with Edwards stepping up.
Made a similar comment to my son that Bula would have stopped one of those tries for sure.

Walsh suffering the curse that has plagued others in the past when being anointed as the face of Rugba League.

It was the best game I have seen in years. I had major doubts that Penrith would even score again when down 24 - 8. But then Nathan stood up and did things which only greats do, flipped the game Penriths way. Outstanding.

Honourable mention to the Ref, he kept the game flowing which made it even more enjoyable.

I feel for him. Last thing he needed in one of the biggest weeks of his life was for the guy who runs the game come out and announce they want to make him the face of the game cos he looks like Justin Bieber. Almost shameful to put that kind of pressure on him leading into a grand final.

It was exciting. and edge of the seat, for sure. Quality wise, not so much. Go back and watch the 2015 GF or pretty much any Bronco-Cowboy game from that 2 year period. Quality wise, some of the best games of the last 20 years.

Broncs / Cowboys GF was not a great game.
It had an amazing finish but last night was far better.

So good at 25, how much better could he possibly get?

I don't think he had shown the ability to win big games for his team when they are on the back foot. He dragged them to a win out there in the GF.

I remember Andrew Johns destroying teams and pulling his team through for the win on multiple occasions.

I still think Johns is a better player than Clearly but Clearly may finish his career as the best of all time.
