Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Is this Alex Conti fella good? Also I would drive JAC to the Tigers in exchange for Twal in a heart beat. JAC would rather self promote his brand than try and help us to our next premiership. No wonder he was so desperate to come back to Sydney

I don’t know or I would share
My guy won’t tell me as he was told in confidence
Those ruled out are either by him directly or by my call on what he has said which on some isn’t absolutely crystal clear
Why are you so confident your mate isn't just taking the piss out of you (and indirectly all of us).

It's happened so many times before and there are just way too many holes in the story for this to be true.

Paying anyone outside the spine 1.2m a season is just stupid
It would be a massive risk that’s for sure.
Put yourself in the club decision makers shoes, they get ridiculed if we don’t sign any marquee players and get ridiculed if we pay too much for any marquee players, it’s a no win situation.
That’s why I ask the question before it happens in what our judgy fans would do, but again not many willing to put their opinion i writing, but they will be sure to ridicule the club if it turns out to be bad decision either way.
My iphnion is I do think 1.2 million for Bradman Best is too much as he doesn’t play in the spine, he’s a little bit injury prone and he’s not your typical effort player that can lift a team off deck when they are struggling.
I rate both Starford To’a and Tristan Reilly much higher than most others do and I’d be prepared to give them an opportunity to show if they deserve to be our longer term NRL centre with the possibility of Charlie Staines re-signing and he too challenging for a starting centre spot.

This thread can be put to sleep a while. No signings or releases happening while such a critical component of our recruitment committee is in Vietnam. That’s okay but because our squad is awesome 👏

You literally get to see every weekend what a player is worth. It can’t be that hard.

Bradman Best would be an exceptional signing. He is a top class centre, only 22 - scores tries, creates them, has size, speed, good hands. We have signed our spine for the next 4 years, we have a really good pack and great forwards coming through but outside backs is our weakness but a centre combo of Star and Best would be fantastic. Also because we have got our spine at a reasonable price means we can afford to spend extra on outside backs

Keep hearing a name being thrown around,
Star, who is he.
Fingers crossed. You just never hear about Brisbane's board, Panthers board, etc etc etc.

Assuming the rumour is true, and given that Best, Manu, Mam & Olakau'atu are off the table...

The obvious name is Luai. And I'm good with that.

The other likely options I'm not as good with- Adam Reynolds, Keiran Foran, Tohu Harris, Suaalii, Luke Keary, Tom Dearden, Isiah Tess & Koloamatangi.

All are good players, and upgrades. But highest paid? You might sit there saying "no way they'd do that"...but this IS Wests Tigers. I could see Reynolds, Dearden, Keary, Suaalii & Koloamatangi being in the conversation though, couldn't you?

Given the options- let it be Luai.

Hammers got to hammer
I share what I hear, nothing more
It’s real, the guy won’t betray a confidence which I respect no matter how hard I try to prise it out
Everything beyond is a combination of a process of elimination based on things he did rule out along with some educated guesses
It’s done for 2025, we will see before too long I’d expect, probably at worst early Nov
Check my history I’m not a BS poster and I’ve been around for quite a while apart from the times Cochise banned me because he didn’t share my views
Thanks for the information. You don't have to justify your source or what you've been told. I'm thankful posters like you continue to provide information.

A look ahead at players off contract in 2024 & even 2025...

The Tigers ABSOLUTELY need to develop their own stars. The next 2 years do not produce a whole lot of Off-Contract stars. There are definitely chess pieces to be added, but no out & out club-changing options.

Love him or not- but Tim Sheens had the right idea- development club.

That’s a good thing. You’d probably run in to Pascoe on his next Griswalds family holiday.
I know he likes his holidays, dresses funny and has a silly looking moustache, but is that enough reason to dislike the bloke ?
The poor bloke must constantly feel like he’s been found guilty and convicted without a trial.

If you were in charge of a professional football outfit that very rarely shows any footballing ability, wouldn’t you be working stupid hours during this period to try and improve the organisation. Seriously man, his relaxed approach to everything is so Wests Tigers. I think he must know he’s cooked.
