Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Luai's an average to above-average player. Absolutely no chance in the world should he be getting a million a year. Sadly, it wouldn't surprise me if our team was stupid enough to make such an offer to him and doom us to further years at the bottom of the table.

For what it’s worth the guy at the source of my rumour ruled out Best, Kiraz, Manu
Indirectly he ruled out Olakuatu and other info seems to have Ezra quite unlikely
Well that narrows it down to just about nobody lol. It’s probably Luai as I think his days at Penrith are numbered and he knows it - he was the saddest man after winning the Grand Final last week. May have just been in pain from his injury, but he didn’t seem to be engaged with the rest of the team as much as usual.

If it is Luai, I don’t know what we’d do with him. Hoping it’s a centre of some sort because that is what we desperately need. However if it’s not Best or Manu, I don’t know who else there is available that would warrant such a big contract.

Assuming the rumour is true, and given that Best, Manu, Mam & Olakau'atu are off the table...

The obvious name is Luai. And I'm good with that.

The other likely options I'm not as good with- Adam Reynolds, Keiran Foran, Tohu Harris, Suaalii, Luke Keary, Tom Dearden, Isiah Tess & Koloamatangi.

All are good players, and upgrades. But highest paid? You might sit there saying "no way they'd do that"...but this IS Wests Tigers. I could see Reynolds, Dearden, Keary, Suaalii & Koloamatangi being in the conversation though, couldn't you?

Given the options- let it be Luai.
Isn’t Suallii off to Rugby?

Is luai the key to more Samoan or penny players aswell ? Not sure he is worth a mil per season tho
I wouldn’t think so.
I haven’t seen much or even any mention of it…but Penrith started playing attacking, point scoring football in that GF after he left the field.
Cogger provided a better foil for Cleary and gave him the room to target certain parts of the field.

Almost like Luai didn’t play in the 3 grand finals before that & win 2 of them… also led Samoa to the World Cup GF

i'm not really a fan of giving a mega deal to Luai but i think Penrith's point scoring was more Broncos defensive load catching up to them and Cleary simply playing brilliant then Cogger being a better foil in the 2nd half than Luai was in the first.

Re Bradman Best- we need a centre who can defend as well as attack. Best is great in attack when he’s on, which certainly isn’t always, but he’s just as bad as our current guys in D. I can’t see him being worth more than $800k at all.
As for Luai I am not sure if he fits - he can be great in that Panthers side but we are a far cry from that team. The sort of money being bandied around is for a guy like Cleary, not Luai.

Cleary didn’t just start playing brilliant out of thin air. The way he played the first 60 was in stark contrast to the back end 20. What was he waiting for a bigger challenge?
Cogger had a huge hand in the way Cleary finished that game off.
