Lee & JP finally lose the confidence of the Board??

Here is an article from the DT:-

It’s long been Wayne Bennett’s favourite catchphrase. Given Bennett’s standing as one of rugby league’s greatest-ever coaches, it makes complete sense then, that key members of the worst performing NRL club over the past-12 years have turned to finding a way forward by taking advice from podcasters and supporters from the hill.

If it’s even possible, the Wests Tigers as an organisation have reached an all-time low, thanks to a collection of suits that make up the club’s majority owners, the Holman Barnes Group, (formerly known as Wests Ashfield) who are hiding behind a petition signed by no less than 2,000 fans. The petition has triggered an independent review which is currently underway and is designed to lift the bonnet on the club’s governance and operations. It is yet to be confirmed if the findings will ever be made public, which is important, as it would then allow the rest of the game to find out how it is that a podcaster knows what an elite-level performing NRL club looks like.

It’s worth noting also, politicians, journalists, player agents and staff will also be interviewed. The review has been brought upon to create change at the Wests Tigers, namely by removing the two constants at the club, chairman Lee Hagipantelis and CEO Justin Pascoe. Boardroom politics often prompts the eyes of punters to glaze over and in desperate need for a Bex and a good lie down.

However, this one will have a lasting impact on the footy field. The Tigers, not the Dragons, should be wooden-spoon favourites for 2024 after this. Those who have penned their signatures have little clue as to how much damage they’re doing ahead of Benji Marshall’s rookie season.

The youngest coach in the NRL next year is said to be filthy. He knows what success looks like and this surely isn’t it. To pinch a quote from yet another super coach, this time Jack Gibson, “winning starts in the front office.” What should be the most important pre-season of Marshall’s career, which is underpinned by solidarity and unity, is now being railroaded by a boardroom Civil War. The damage, both for Marshall and his ability to coach without a summer of distracting headlines, in addition to the club’s hopes of recruiting new talent while retaining their own, is untold. This morning, Tigers fans will wake to the news that Junior Blues halfback Alex Conti is off to the Bulldogs. It’s just the beginning. It’s any wonder Marshall’s manager Matt Desira was one of the first to call Hagipantelis out of concern last Thursday. Next on the phone from the US was Mario Tartak.

He is the agent of Tigers 2024 starting halfback, former Dragons playmaker Jayden Sullivan, and the club’s most prized recruits, Latu and Samuela Fainu. The trio had taken deals with the Tigers in the belief that under Marshall and a heavily-invested Hagipantelis, the club had moved past troubled times. Prop Stefano Utoikamanu has a clause in his 2024 contract that allows him to leave if the Wests Tigers miss the finals next season. What’s the point? Let him go now. The determinations of the review are unlikely to be detailed before December, right when Marshall is in the middle of his important pre-season. In the meantime, Hagipantelis is standing firm after it was voted unanimously that he continue as a director and chair for a further three years by both the Balmain and Wests Magpies directors of the joint-venture club last month. The twist came when he was recently asked to stand down by Holman Barnes Group representative Tony Andreacchio. Andreacchio and the HBG feel betrayed that news of Hagipantelis’ extension as chair went public while the review was still ongoing. Did they seriously think it would remain quiet for three months?

Pascoe will be interviewed for the sake of the review next week. It will be the CEO’s word against a podcaster. Only in Tiger Town.
One of the most absurd articles posted in the Tele, and that's saying something. It was obviously ghost written by Pascoe/Lee someone who is very afraid they're going to lose their job.

But the review itself as a concept, is, in my opinion, unequivocally a good thing for the betterment of the club.
100%.

But by organising a petition and involving the media as a means of promotion it taints the process inviting negative publicity and giving the media extra angle to review the review itself based on the expectations of some who signed and perhaps some who have been interviewed.

The organisers had access to club officials and could have made the suggestion of a review directly, initially at least.

And it's just not the Murdoch media but also the SMH who have some critique with it.

What's left, media wise.

The media, report on things that are happening. The petition was happening. The review is now happening.
If you want to avoid negative reporting of the club we would need to fold the club. 26 times a year this team goes out and gives the media reason to write negatively and Lee & Pascoe fill in the other 26 weeks.

By inviting the media and making it a public process including by which the interviewed are talking to the media prior to the conclusion of the review you are prejudicing it's independence and the attitudes of the people who are yet to be interviewed.

Well there's the question of why one of the podcasters was on here supporting calls for immediate sweeping changes to the club?
Aren't we all supposed to be waiting for the results of the review?

There's that to ponder.

Sort of brings in to question the motivation for the review don't you think?
I dont play guessing games...who and what are you talking about?

The pod guys were approached by the media. The rest of your post is pure bullshit which is completely in line with the rest of your bullshit on this subject from the minute the pod guys initiated the petition. Initially you were raving about some supposed anti Magpies agenda, and that has morphed into this weak bullshit. You simply have your panties in a bunch that you dont approve of the people taht got things moving. You have put your agenda out for weeks and weeks and its clear.

These guys cared, made something happen that NEEDED to happen and Im sick of the weak, pantie bunched bitching about it. Its weak.

Sign of a losing argument is name calling.

Of course they can, they own the privately owned company.

One might suggest that it might be an idea for Wests Ashfield to commission a review by some external people with experience of corporate governance to provide advice on the best way to change the structure........no?

Let's see.

Just removing Lee and Justin will not achieve that.

Im sure you are right and we should all be calm and rational like you and simply accept that the status quo is all we can expect and deserve.

I far from do not like the guys from the WTP. I just do not agree with some aspects in this instance and see some inconsistency do not know why that's worth getting upset and defensive on behalf of someone else.

Wow,

Didn't expect that retort lol.

What part of my post is bullshit? Or is it you can't formulate a decent reply to it?

I used to enjoy engaging with a guy that resembles you much better......the old Tigers5150.

Ah well.

I think any criticism directed at the pod group is misguided and unnecessary.
They achieved the impossible. Asking the club to look at itself.
This review has already established that the club cant construct a plan and stick to it. We’re no where near the halfway mark of the review and the board is showing us that they’re just a bunch of windsocks.
A few weeks ago they give the Chair another 3 years, now they want him to step down? Now they’re shopping for another home ground?
under pressure they’re doing more of the same. The same behaviour we’ve seen for a decade and the reason us fans aren’t happy, because many of us feel it’s a major contributor to our mediocre on field performance.

Ah well.
Tell us again how the whole petition is due to Garry's anti Magpies bias and a Balmain centric initiative...

What ever happened to Tiger5150, he was good.
