Lee & JP finally lose the confidence of the Board??

Off the top of my head.

... I mean, even the blue wiggle would be better than Dennis. Built a far bigger business in music.

There are a lot out there. c-level execs and whatnot who are closet Tigers fans. I'm in Singapore and even find the odd international business high-flyer here who loves them. The Tigers had the 88-89 team that had a lot of blokes into their 40-50s supporting the Tigers. They'll be at prime age.

We can do a lot better.

Buy the business… then you can make the decisions

The directors are a proxy for the owners..the HB group.

Right wingers believe ownership equals control.......me anyway.
Yes. The HBG is a non-profit organization owned by members, directly or indirectly. Please do correct me if I'm wrong.

So, the HBG is not an owner like Russel Crowe is an owner. The directors, who somewhat straddle both WT and HBG, I would argue are "agents" for their members. Or custodians.

Saying Russel Crowe should stand down from the board is VERY different from saying these directors should stand down. None of their own money or risk has gone into it, its members and the community's money.

Essentially, the HBG group is funded by people like you and me, but the voting processes are so obfuscated from Wests Tigers.

You would not get a high-profile individual wanting to be on the board of HBG, but you may get them wanting to be part of Wests Tigers. Therein lies our problem

As long as HBG (and let's not forget the other "owners") have a claim to board seats, we're going to be fielding a Flegg grade side into our board. Forever and ever.

The only way we get through this is for these board members to show some balls and put the community first rather than themselves and restructure. That is what is holding us back.

I fear it will hold us back forever.

All Balmain folks pretty much.

And we tried B O'Farrell..

And the blue wiggle wants a Balmain return .

Won't work for a JV.

If you own a bookshop … you aren’t going to let others make decisions you have no control over …

Why would the owners of the WT let others make decisions they dont ultimately control?
I might take ideas from other bookstore owners , and critically evaluate whether I can use those ideas to improve my business. I might realise that everyone is capable of growth.

I really don't look at it that way anymore.

But if you do, there will be a bunch of quality Wests guys too. Penrith has a guy who has built a 150-strong business out that way. Someone like that in Cambo is ideal.

I've only named blokes in my head, in the media. There will be a tonne more.

Yep…if your business is underperforming you might even pay someone to do a review so they can make recommendations on how to improve your results .,.. you can then decide to follow those or not,,,

If the CEO, Chairman, Board, HBG all stay or all go I really don’t care as I’m a Wests Tigers supporter and my primary focus are the players, coaches and the on field results.
Nobody wanted two consecutive wooden spoons and under the circumstances we appear to have done well to assemble a roster consisting of many talented young players, with the hope some of them will become the NRL stars they have promised to be throughout their illustrious junior careers.
A review is a good thing, the concern as some people on here have already raised is the question on whether or not the findings will be actioned in a fair and honest way with so much self interest at stake.
Benji is under enough pressure as it is, the last thing he needs is a boardroom at war and not knowing who he has to answer to.

Anything else but changing those 5 board members into independents is putting a bandaid on something needing stitches.

We need to fix our governance structure to bring in accountability. It's probably impossible given the ownership, but it's the core of the problem.

We need some balls in that group and I'm not seeing it. These directors act like owners, not custodians.

If the P&L is so great like Pascoe says, why don't they list it?!

Say we let say the wiggle or Ben take over and call it Tigers wearing black and gold.

I'll log off the forum so it can be an even bigger echo chamber.

And you guys still run last.

And we don't buy merchandise to boot.

What then!😀

Maybe you and I are… but some seem to think that if the recommendation comes back as “turn over all the decision making to someone else” … I don’t think that is going to happen..
Who knows? Maybe HBG determine their directors should focus on their club operations and they should implement a new Board and exec to run WT?? Hope so.

I think thats a bit of a pipe dream… because businesses don’t tend to this in my experience…hand over one of their businesses to someone else and not maintain the ultimate control …
