Exactly! Some key players were missing preseason through injury, but they had the last 12 games to get something sorted. Get a team together instead of going on holidays and leaving Noddy to take a hospital pass. The coaching staff were abysmal this year. We had a better squad than the previous year and still came last. You cannot roll into a preseason the way they did. They were under prepared and poorly coached that's on the coaching staff.
Mate it’s Groundhog Day here.I love Twaly, but this decision, on the back of the clubs decision to release him only 1 month back shows to me the club has no strategic thinking behind its recruiting. They make things up as they go along. I thought Fulton was supposed to be a recruitment guru....dumb, dumb dumb...
Spoke openly about it on Denans podcast a long time ago.The Melbourne release isn't in the same postcode as the Dogs issues....
I've claimed here repeatedly, If Addo-Carr stayed in Sydney - He wouldn't be the player he is
(Stating the obvious when it comes to Bellamys coaching)
But Sydney itself I've always felt - Is the worst place for him....
It seemed like every time he came back he was in some sort of mischief....
He'd also have a lot of hangers on in Sydney... Not always a good thing.
Even if he is, what about the two years after that? He'll start the 2025 season at age 31, as a sub-100kg back row forward with nearly 300 games in his body. Expecting him to be good in 2025-26 is extreme wishful thinking. I'll give you an optimistic case: let's say he's good next year, ok in 2025 and one step from retirement in 2026. For a marquee player's salary over four years we'll have got one good, one ok and two poor seasons. That's bad business whichever way you slice it. My concern when we signed him was that his first season, given the type of player he is, his track record and his age, was almost certain to be his best.I have absolutely no issue with the Bateman signing and would place my house on the fact that he will be better next year with a far better off season.
Current information leads me to believe there was a bit more to it.Back to be closer to his daughter....
They also made him stay for an extra year after they'd organised for him to leave....
They're NOT doing that if he's a shit human - No matter how you spin it.
Surely you of all people would remember Lee's 'Heads of Agreement'
Nobody is as shit as this mob.He was also a serving board member of an equally shit administration.

Twal extends contract at Wests Tigers
Wests Tigers is delighted to announce that Alex Twal has signed a new long-term contract to extend his future at the club.www.weststigers.com.au
Reports are that his deal is going from $525k to $400k with the new contract. Can you provide any details on it?
As it stands - If the numbers thrown around for next year are close to accurate, He's getting paid too much.
I'd guess the extension is at a lesser rate - Spread over more years....
If anyone has any brains, That's what it is....
For the upteenth time, I have no real problem with Twal,
Only of the opinion shared here he's one of the best players in the game
(If not the world - Or any other big place)
And that he's in every teams Starting 13....
I just don't think he is... Even this year, All and sundry are banging on about how he'd improved....
I'd like to see his highlights reel.
He's in the 17 of a Stronger side for sure....
But we've got far too many holes for us to rely on a player of his level as heavily as we do.
Said as much - Many times....
But there it is again for you curiosity...
ps: I'm guessing you have no details to share on the new contract?

No doubt he's gone down the Chris Lawrence clubman route here, taken security and passion over dollars. I'd say his contract will have been renegotiated for 2024 and future years so he's on~400k a year over the next 4 years.Wests Tigers fan favourite Alex Twal is set to remain with the club until at least the end of the 2027 season after adding an additional three years to his current deal.

2025 NRL Signings Tracker: Rabbitohs extend gun fullback; Feagai joins Titans

It's actually different in this instance.I love Twaly, but this decision, on the back of the clubs decision to release him only 1 month back shows to me the club has no strategic thinking behind its recruiting. Same thing occurred with Keon at South's.It's actually different in this instance.
We said to him he's free to explore his options so he can gauge what his market value was. If he got a monster off he was free to take it. His market value came back at 400k. In the end he decided he'd rather stay here and earn that here than leave for that same amount. So we've got a solid, reliable but unspectacular forward locked in for a few years. When teh youngsters are struglling over time it's good to have reliable players in the squad.
The club placed a value on his head, allowed him to test it himself, only for him to come back saying he'll take that lesser amount we offered. That's a win for the club.
We were prepared to let him walk and save 525k next season if someone was prepared to cough it up. Nobody was, not even Manly. It wasn't about ability, it was about finances. So we were looking to offload Twaly, but signed him for another 3 years? 😂
Benji finding out it’s just a massive wok he’s fallen into.So we were looking to offload Twaly, but signed him for another 3 years? 😂
Shaun Stevenson just re-signed with NZRU.
