Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I’m still skeptical about anyone we sign due to the fact we are a mess off the field. We have no direction and are run by clowns. That affects on field results. This year is proof of that. No squad with the likes of Api, Ice, Bateman, Klemmer and Bula should only be winning 4 games all year. That is an indictment on the coaching staff and admin.
Have to agree here , we had enough players to be top 10 but all failed , do we blame Sheens , I do , but others may not , but we added talent and still failed , where does it lay , we can’t blame Benji as it was not his team , maybe just maybe , Sheens and his ideas failed us , I don’t know I just don’t know where it all went wrong

I blame Brooks and Douhie. Brooks should have closed out a few of those early games instead we lost a heap of games and confidence and then injuries and no way back.

I'm coming around on luai. Our current structure won't work. Sezar will last a year, then we have a bunch of young kids. We need an experienced half with them.

Luai will essentially replace sezar when he leaves. Fainu and Sullivan will battle for the #7. Doueigh to centres.

Large may slot into the 2nd row...

What happens to who ever loses out on the 7 between Fainu and Sullivan?

Is there any reason why everyone’s talking like Luai is coming here? Signing for a new agency hardly is news for a player

I don't get it why their chasing Luai.they just signed Fainu Sullivan for 4 years and Galvin who is supposedly a 58 what are they supposed to do for the next whatever years.
For once, we might need to make a difficult decision and offload a high calibre player, like Penrith. That's what that means. If we bought them at good value, then we shouldn't have to subsidise.

I honestly think Fainu looks the more likely based on his performances in cup. He just looks more composed. In saying that, there is limited footage to make a real assessment.

He is only 18 though and has played only 6 games for Blacktown Workers. Hopefully he is another Jahream.

If he is not the outright pick at 6, he will get time at 14 to cover hooker and slot into the halves. TDS will probably get sporadic game time throughout the season as he is still developing. Between that, injuries and Origin (Api), he will get a bench spot for plenty of game time at the very least.

The issue for Sullivan is he is 80kg and needs to defend in the front line. He will be targeted in a big way. Needs to put on some size.

Or indicative of a club with no halves! Remember wakeham played more than half a season and No Doueihi and brooks was injured and half way out the door!

Really, realllly don't want to lose Blore for Olam. Terrible idea.

Blore will become a beast with regular footy. Just because he's had a bad run of injuries, doesn't mean it's going to keep happening.

Not sure about the potential Luai signing... just don't think he's the type of player that would succeed here. His attitude stinks when things don't go his way, where at Penrith they usually do.

Love all the comments on Luai.

He is a quality player who has won 3 Grand Finals, played State of Origin and played for his country.
That to me is a dream NRL career even if he never plays again.

I feel he will be another Adam Blair if he leaves Penrith. I feel he works well in their system with a quality spine and awesome forward pack. The connection Penrith players have is something you can not buy.

Stephen Crighton will be a huge loss to the Penrith (one try in 4 consecutive Grand Finals) and his loss will bring them back to the pack. Crighton makes the halves look great as he finishes off their work with tries or set up his winger. Crighton would have been a game changer for WT but good luck to the Canterbury Panthers in 2024.

$800,000 is still decent money a year and he can continue to succeed in a team that will continue to play finals each year and more premierships.

I know WT need quality to move from back to back Wooden Spoons but to me Luai is not the solution.

As much as WT need a quality Centre I would not swap Blore for Olam. Noffo yes but Blore no way.

Agree, apart from Large to 2nd row. What about Galvin?

It was also in indictment of our halves in not being able to get the ball to the backline after the forwards had done a good job in getting to a good position. Weve now, finally addressed the halves problem that has been staring us in the face for years. Onwards and upwards- hopefully a lot better than last by the end of 24 season.
