Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

No but I do remember watching him play in the same Balmain SG Ball team as Junior Tatola. It seems history is repeating itself with the losses of Balmain juniors recently.

I’m not familiar with the current Balmain SGB squad, although I have read the media stories of the players that are leaving …just names to me

They can’t keep everybody I guess… and even at 17- 18 years old there is a long road ahead for most players bar a small elite …

We can only hope for the best that they get this pathways right as it’s the only way to achieve any real success ..eg a Top 4 side … At best though that is still years away

Yes. Sullivan has missed large chunks with hamstring issues too. You can't pass up the quality of Luai based on an unproven rookie and an injury plagued half who couldn't nail down a spot in a team marginally better than us. A Latu and Luai halves pairing sounds pretty good to me.
Luai has a shoulder injury hanging over him as well

He didn't exactly set the world on fie here or when he was at the Dogs. Having a coach who instills belief does seem to make a difference, however. He has played well with the Sushi Train.

I think Matamua will come good.
He has gone through most of his juniors playing 6 and was elevated quickly last year finishing SG ball before first grade towards the end of the year. If anything he got promoted ahead of his time. Been playing Cup in the forwards and needs to spend more time playing there for his body to adapt.
Well I’d like to say I really hope so( for
both him and the club)but I’ll reserve judgement until it happens.

Yeah but Benji ended up playing wing or outside centre in defence.
I just can’t see the value in paying Luai mega dollars to prove he can play away from his childhood mates.
Too big a risk imo.
The way the injury happened, doesn’t show a weakness.

I’ve had 3 personally.

This was an impact injury, and once recovered I wouldn’t expect it to hamper him.

I would be worried if it was a weakness or structural issue. But it wasn’t. It was in the wrong angle with too much weight put on it.

He will be fine.

But is he worth that much ? And what about the Manly kid who is supposedly a future star?
Money we could spend better elsewhere ?
