Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I've honestly got no clue, probably only people
that know are belly & olam..u pose a good
Question though. How much more of a risk is
blore, or anyone else on our roster that's not at
least wrapped up already? Could even be perso
issues who knows. Ideally you trade someone
Else for him but it's early days Nov 1 coming up
If we were near the top of the garbage pile, we probably wouldn't be analysing it too much.

Give them Bateman for Olam.
We can’t lose on that one, he done nothing for us, nothing for England against Tonga and at his age he’s not improving,
That would also clear the path for Blore to be our regular starting back rower which should be more of an incentive for him to re-sign with us long term,
At the time, Bateman's signing was described as the main domino to fall.

Shame the deal didn't fall over like a domino, was always a risky signing and you can't convince me that it was a good deal.

I was the same until he came back into Grade and was coming off the bench in the Middle in the latter part of this year...
He was basically the only player I saw come from the bench all year and actually lift the tempo / make a difference....
I saw enough to have him well above plenty of other middles we have contracted,
Including the 2 we just extended.
Blore was actually making line breaks, something we are not used to seeing.

In the middle and on an edge. I don't want to lose him but I don't think he is great.

Pole & Kit Laulilii are in my opinion better than Blore in the middle but Blore can also play on an edge.

IP and Bateman haven't delivered value to us whereas Blore will.

I think we can let him go but we've mismanaged our cap via signing Bateman especially.

Our big issue is we have 4 guys on big dollars who are meant to lead us in the forwards and they aren't delivering. Klemmer, Stef, Bateman and IP should give us one of the best packs on paper in the comp. They have Pole, Seyfarth, Twal, currently Blore and other guys coming through to support them but the support players were probably better than those 4 guys.

The coaching staff need to sort our forwards out and they have plenty to work with.

I know Declan Casey personally - has a lot of solid attributes to his game. The kid is athletic, fast and strong. In terms of his size he has the perfect winger/centre body as he’s quite tall yet lean and moves well.

However, his maturity/consistency needs work he makes some mistakes and can get in his head. If he can clean that up and consistently perform he’d be a solid pick up.

If it’s not in the top 30 I’d consider it a good signing….. has promise.

This is a good article (free 2 read), summarizes
The gamble. Perhaps a change of scenery??

Good story. I'm torn on the potential swap but it makes sense for our positional needs if Olam passes the medical (maybe that's why it's been rumoured for a while as Olam has been with the PNG squad and last week pulled out with an ongoing knee issue).

Provided the knee & his arm fracture from earlier this season are ok (possibly both played with his head a bit which may explain his form), I'd love to see Olam with us and also Jimmy Ngutlik retained on a T&T with Olam to mentor him.

Mismanaged the cap …. Again ..

Thanks for the info. Couldn't find much on him to view his attributes. When you say fast ... is he Nofa fast lol or say Naden fast?

Agreed. I don't mind the trade, particularly if Blore wants out for 2025. Club must do due diligence on injuries though. It's not often players can play like Olam and sustain a long NRL career.

Forgot about his injury issues.. Ngutlik defo dark horse!

The thing with Blore is..... if there was NO Lualili'i or Fa'agutu coming through, if we didn't have Pole...

If it was JUST Blore vs Twal/Seyfarth... you wouldn't do it.

But there are 3 very, very promising players in the squad playing his exact role. And 2 vets that are possibly a half step behind him.

Will the Tigers ever, really, feel the impact of losing Blore?

On the other hand- Olam becomes are best center if he signs on. Not potentially. Not maybe. Compared to To'a (maybe close) Naden, Tupou, Feledy....you'd take a semi-busted Olam every day.

We don't have the same type of quality players coming through at #3 & #4 as we do at #13.

It's a solid yes from me.

The problem with the Blore and Olam swap would be we take on Olam’s contract for 2024, 2025, and 2026. It’s a fully guaranteed contract. That third year makes it very risky in my eyes. I don’t know what the dollars are but I presume they would be decent. $500k+?

Really don’t see what the appeal is for Suli. He’s already been here and it didn’t work out. Sure he was a teenager, but you could look past that if went on to be a star, or be in the class of Best, but he’s a moderate to average player at best. Lazy and has never lived up to his potential. We aren’t the kind of club who will unlock him either.

Then do the swap.

Sorry Blore has been 3 seasons of potential. Even if the end of 2023 was supposebly good, I could see him being as much a benchwarmer as a gun next year.

Do it Do it Do it.

Blore for either Ryan P or Olam. I prefer Olam but honestly would take either deal.
Yeah I wasn’t keen on losing Blore at first, would rather swap Nofo, but Melbourne want a forward. I could live with it if it means we get proven big game centre in return. In spite of his not so great form last season, I think Olam can bounce back. We need backs, not forwards, Melbourne need forwards, not backs. It’s a no brainer.

providing Olam's body is in good knick I think he'll be fine. he had a few major injuries this year and was in and out of the side, but he did have some moments against Penrith in the Preliminary Final which indicate he's clearly still got it. a change of scenery and a preseason to get over his niggling injuries would be more than enough to get him back to a high output I feel.
