Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Have to agree with you wholeheartedly on the above bolded comments you have made.

It's not like it is just when these players play for Wests Tigers that they fail to make an impression, they continually fail to impress when playing rep football for their chosen country or state as well.

You would think that if it was just a Wests Tigers thing that is holding these guys back, that with the so called ability that these guys have and with some sort of pride in playing for their chosen state or country they would shine like a beacon at that representative level, but that does not seem to be the case either.

What have we done to these players, have we completely destroyed their confidence as top line competitive players or are they just past it or have they been over hyped the whole time?

I have been previously critical of Stef for not standing up and making the most of his opportunities at representative level, and he has had a few chances now to impress but has failed to do so.

VERDICT: been over hyped the whole time. Still young and may come good but needs to stop talking and start performing.

John Bateman, to me at least, has been a very poor choice for us, and one that I was not very keen on having here to start with.

VERDICT: I think he is just past it. No doubt that he brings lots of passion but I just think his body is just not up to it any more and this was just season one, just can't see him providing value for money over the next 3 seasons that we have him contracted for, I don't think the contract will go the distance.

Isaiah Papali'i may come good and was starting to look a little better towards the end of the season playing for us and hopefully next season if we can get some sort of a halves combination working we may actually be able to utilise him in a way that he becomes the attacking weapon that he should be. Wasn't too impressed with him last Saturday for New Zealand and as a matter of fact hardly noticed that he was even out there.

VERDICT: I think we have almost destroyed the guy because we have had no idea how to use him. I still think he can come good if we can just work out how to utilise him and get him some good ball.
I agree with point 3. Most def.

Let’s hope we see a dif game plan that he can benefit from in 24.

Quality doesn’t disappear.

Will benji fighting with the recruitment manager with the connections be helpful.

Take the personal feelings away the answer is no.
You think Peter Peters opinions are not impacted by his personal relationship with Fulton? Fultons connection with Peters is about the only one that is obvious at this point and for all the wrong reasons.

providing Olam's body is in good knick I think he'll be fine. he had a few major injuries this year and was in and out of the side, but he did have some moments against Penrith in the Preliminary Final which indicate he's clearly still got it. a change of scenery and a preseason to get over his niggling injuries would be more than enough to get him back to a high output I feel.
Olam was a beast. However look at when Manly played the storm. Okulatau busted Olam big time. I have never seen Olam hurt before, but he lost his chin that night. Bellemy has seen it & now wants to off load him.His heart is gone, & we dont need him.

No benji will turn the club around to a top 8 team 😂

It's all good.

All these fans saying we don't need Olam when Kepoua starts in our backline...

Kepaoa is a depth player who unfortunately gets picked from time to time through injury,..

I still think there is a chance that they move him on shortly to open up a roster spot..

The problem with Olam is that the Storm think he has jumped the shark and want to move on from him … and he is signed to big money for another 3 years

Benji faces exactly the same problem that the coaches before him face and Fulton now faces - players and managers aren't buying what this club is selling.
The last thing we need is the recruitment manager and coach at odds with each other because the new guy wants to prove he has contacts. Unless Fulton can attract top tier talent which to date seems he can not then the coach gets the say and he lives and dies by his squad like all those before him.

It's clear fulton sandbags when fighting with beni.plus fulton will attract players and benji will say no..

It's a messy situation

We could certainly use Olam next year but is the better play Olam in 24 for X years or someone else in 25.
I'm sure we can find a better centre than Olam for 25 and that won't also cost us Blore.
If Blore is leaving regardless however I am then less opposed to the trade.

How is it clear that Fulton will attract the players we need to this club anymore than anyone else? And in what club does a recruitment manager over rule the coach in terms of the squad?
If they back Fulton over Benji then they may as well sack Benji now and employ the coach happy to let Fulton make the recruitment decisions.

Is there any other club where a coach is overruled on his choice of a 7?

Good point,i have long thought that somebody on the board was insisting that Brooks get picked each week.I am not and was never a Brooks hater but to me something just never seemed to add up in team selections and there where options at times that were just not used and it did not matter who the coach was
