Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

How many on here have actually ever watched Webster Mansfield play?
People just throw names around that they haven't heard before and say they're crap without even bothering to do any kind of due diligence...

In my view he shouldn't be on an NRL contract this year, development contract is where he's currently at ability wise. Highly talented local youngster with a good frame but had a few issues with injury and covid didn't help his development. Reminds me of Brad Takarangi. IMO He's more likely to make it in the NRL than say Tumeth, and I'd much rather keep him over Kepaoa, Nof, Simpkin...
Yeah I didn’t say he was crap, and I replied to Demps with almost exactly what you said. Shouldn’t be in the nrl top 30 right now. Actually looks like you copied what I said for that part of your post or didn’t see my reply?
I Didn’t mean to upset you.
Anyway TBH the only ones on that list I really wanna get rid of is Flippers and Simplekin, but no-one wants them. Our roster management is so poor we now have no spots left to buy NRL ready players that we need now. Then when you look at the young blokes who haven’t debuted in the nrl yet at 22 you start being ruthless with your top 30. I have since noticed Jordon Miller is also in the 30. We have a very young top 30 and I think some of these young blokes could have come through reserve grade and our roster would be in better shape.

Good post man.
Agree with it all.

Saw him in the trial and a few cup games.
Also some fleg games a while ago.

He's big in person, could see him really filling out even more and having an imposing build.

He's a local lad from Claymore & as you said, I could also see him having a better career than Tumeth.

@Kaito knows too.

Love u dawg

Olam would be a good get. I hope benji is ensuring that he prefaces any discussions that he'll expect medical retirement if his injuries get unsustainable.

Losing blore will be tough. But Melbourne would hardly take someone like the tumeth or Mansfield
The drizzle want him gone, they don’t want to pay him his contract as he’s in the way down and they know it. There just playing chicken with the tigers and it looks like the tigers blinked. They give him to us for free, we’re just dumb enough to fall for it, reminds me of when we let Fifita go to the guppies!

I can give you a as long as my arm of players that have been talked up who never even made their debut. Talking about juniors is text book grain of salt stuff, yet so many expectations get on put them. And no one ever learns from it. They just move on to the next SG Ball or Flegg star.
We haven't had anyone to really talk up since Teddy, Brooks, Moses, Woods.

Sure every season people might pick the top 1-2 juniors and give them a wrap (what else have we got to look forward to?) But we haven't had any elite juniors for a long time

Benji Marshall has ventured to Melbourne to finalise a player swap involving out of favour Storm centre Justin Olam and Tigers forward Shawn Blore.

The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio reported on SEN radio the swap deal is imminent with Marshall believing Olam is the missing piece for his 2024 backline.

“From a Wests Tigers point of view, I like this a lot,” Riccio said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“We all know the type of player Justin Olam. He’s all power and can be hugely damaging.

“He fell out of favour big time at the back end of last season for the Melbourne Storm.

“I don’t think Olam makes the (2024 Melbourne) team with the likes of Nick Meaney, Will Warbrick, Reimis Smith, Xavier Coates, Ryan Papenhuyzen now back into the fray and Grant Anderson who has shown plenty of promise.

“Olam is almost surplus to needs when you think about the depth of the outside backs at Melbourne.

“Blore is a talented player who plays in the forwards and has had some injury problems but has found his feet.

“That would be the appetite for the Storm because if there was one area where they were found wanting last year, it was their forward pack. Blore would fill that void.”

Olam, 29, has scored 46 tries in 14 NRL games for the Storm since his debut in 2018 winning a premiership in 2020 and has scored seven tries in 14 Tests for Papua New Guinea.

23-year-old Blore has scored one try in 33 games for the Tigers since his debut in 2020.
If Riccio likes this move, maybe we should be concerned?

Storm need forwards after losing Kaufusi and the Bromwich boys and we have one first grade standard centre in Toa. Deal makes good sense for both teams. We also have Pole at 13 and some young kids that look good.

I believe this makes us better however a player going to a gun side like the storm most often looks like they won the deal. We are bad out wide Olam helps.
