Club News: 2024 squad update

Wests Tigers have added five players to the extended squad on train and trial contracts and released two players from the club's top-30.

Triston Reilly and Brandon Mansfield both released.

Top 30 now at 28.

So we have just signed 5 trialists and Mr whippy.So much for being a developement club.Im sure our juniors will be impressed

Also disappointed to see Reilly go. Thought he preformed well with limited opportunities in first grade and showed some strong tackling.

Because lots of teams have devised defensive formations that are effective at short range, so they don't mind giving the ball up on a 50/50 close to the line, in the corner. The take already burns one tackle, then a second tackle trying to shift the ball back to the centre (where the defensive line can advance quickly). It's then third tackle and your line hasn't been stretched yet. Your forwards also don't have to jog forward 30+ metres to try and meet a long drop-out.

And if it doesn't go 10m, a penalty in front. Or goes out on the full. How many times do they get the kick wrong?
And why is there a drop out in the first place........ because they have been desperately defending their line and are probably knackered already?

Mikey Nasser is U17s and suffered a knee fracture this year playing for NSW CHS. He is friends with my son and definitely runs the 100m under 11secs. This was in the paper on Monday, Uncle Nick doesnt sign players to the Roosters that dont cut it. We cant sign them all but this will be another Ryan Papz we had him but lost him.

A huge coup for the Roosters, the fullback joins from Balmain, where he starred in the junior rep system over the past couple of seasons.

Likened to a Tom Turbo clone, the 16-year-old has all the makings of a future NRL star. Already 6’2 and as someone who can run 100m in less than 11 seconds, Nassar combines his athletic ability with an excellent kicking game and footwork to wreak absolute havoc on opposition defences.

It appears as though Staines has one spot, though not yet confirmed.
No news of the other. It might be left vacant as an opportunity for the train and trialist or they may have someone already lined up.
