In my view he shouldn't be on an NRL contract this year, development contract is where he's currently at ability wise. Highly talented local youngster with a good frame but had a few issues with injury and covid didn't help his development. Reminds me of Brad Takarangi. IMO He's more likely to make it in the NRL than say Tumeth, and I'd much rather keep him over Kepaoa, Nof, Simpkin...

Obviously your opinion isn’t as highly rated as you think.
I would have preferred to let others go instead, but at least we have 2 spots for nrl ready first graders.
Problem I see is, we are gunna waste one of those spots on crap Staines and he is a good fill in at best. Would prefer two nrl starters.
Now you can make assumptions on whether I’ve seen Staines play and comment away. 😁
 
well, we needed to clear space and that we have done. Mansfield wasn't a top 30 calibre player, simple as that. given it was a 1 year deal on what I assume was minimum wage it makes sense to part ways, even though I do believe he possesses some upside.

Reilly is slightly disappointing but it would indicate that the Olam deal is pretty close. Naden, Kepaoa and Feledy as depth, with ideally another signing to come. Staines' re-signing will likely be confirmed within a few hours you'd think.

I thought Reilly was very solid in his handful of appearances, but incredibly unspectacular. With spots at an absolute premium for this year that move makes a lot of sense.
Mansfield similar, sounded like he has a lot of potential, but there is a significant log jam of forwards now and I just can't see him getting an opportunity this year.
The important thing now is that the club uses these spots wisely, sounds like Staines takes one, hopefully another quality back into the other...
 
Well, at very least we have available spot/s now for recruitment- presuming Staines has taken 1 of them leaving 1. Shame about Reilly, not fussed with Mansfield (?) but certainly looks like we are stuck with Nofo till the end. Makes sense I suppose to shed players with 1 year remaining and a smaller payout- also at this stage fo the year, they have good prospects of picking up a gig for 24 season somewhere else.

From an avid Magpies supporter BWM is not an NRL contract worthy player. He got out played last season by Jack Boyling who was on a Magpies contract. He provided nothing and never blew me away. These BWM wraps are crazy because he really isn't that great.
