Im just super cynical until I see some improvement.

I feel like this year is tile last year.

Everyone was living in hope with Sheens.

And now everyone is living in hope with benji.

But I will say I do feel benji has the best possible chance of signing big name players… compared to last coaches since Ivan… but still man, we’ve got AJ, Seyfarth, a 33yr old half back, no genuine guns in the back line (Bula is no Latrell yet)…

When you look at every other team I don’t know which team we are better than. And if people say we are better than some teams it would be 50/50 at best.

700k for Best is the max I would have offered him. Not concerned about him not coming as he is hit and miss and it was only 12 months ago Knights were shopping him around.
1 above season is not a player I would splash 800k on unless his a spine player.

The other option I'd entertain is recruiting Karl Lawton from Manly as a bench utility for hooker, backrow & lock.

1 - Manly did allow him to seek other clubs recently for his 2024 contract (though did recently say they are happy to keep him).
2 - It would allow us to release Jake Simpkin if he has a club willing to take his 2024 contract.
3 - It would allow Tallyn to build reps in NSW Cup as a starting hooker.
4 - Lawton reportedly is very professional & good clubman as well as a solid player as a hooker or backrower.
5 - It would allow us to position Sam Fainu as our main backup backrower (if an injury to IP or Bateman) with Lawton staying as bench utility.

Lawton brings more versatility than Simpkin at probably the same $$$ value and would give us more depth in the backrow position.

I think Manly had a change of heart and resigned him I believe

For what it’s worth - I got a text today from a friend saying that the Olam deal is done. I guess we’ll find out soon.

Melbourne originally also asked for Junior Tupou but was denied quickly by our management. Expect to see Melbourne put a bid in very soon I reckon. They like him a lot apparently.

Do Melbourne need another winger? I would take both Coates and Warbrick over Tupou.

Maybe he can find something to repay the enormous financial outlay we’ve made in him.
Extra training , sprint work etc, and having players inside who can use him correctly.
Coz he does know where the tryline is !!!

The newspapers suggest a $100k per season difference in our offer vs the Knights. After tax, those extra dollars get soaked up pretty quickly with city living. Doubt he was ever intending to leave unless pushed.

Is it just me, or was anyone else a little surprised/disappointed that Tristan Reilly got the flick.
Whilst it took him all season to get in the Firsts I thought there was some potential to build there, and he could certainly tackle ok.
Wonder where he might end up ?
