Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It’s funny that Storm are desperate to sign Shawn Blore as an edge back rower and see him in their starting line up, yet most self proclaimed experts on here claim Blore is better as a middle forward.

Blore met Bellamy in Sydney, and the premiership-winning coach told him how things operated down south, and how the club viewed him as a middle forward. The former Penrith junior, who sees himself playing on an edge, said it was “hard not to be impressed” by Bellamy and the Storm.

If you want Luai a year early do it the traditional way - get him to call Ivan a fl@g and say he cant work with him because he insulted him about not being worth a mill 🤣

Or do a Moses and a Matterson .. use the mental and physiological excuse to get out of your contract .. ;-)

Honestly .. we would have to be bloody mad to let Galvin go .. the most talented, highly rated junior in the game is on our books .. yes we haven't seen him play anything except school boy footy .. but this kid has it all .. its now whether or not he can transform his game and step up in against the big boys (men) in the NRL. Yes he's only young but he big lad and will only get bigger with on training during the off and on season of the NRL .. he might get a run in the NRL next season (2024 season) .. but definitely the 2025 season he'll be ready to step up to the NRL.

The question we have now is .. do we hold to this kid .. or do we use him as a trade piece to possibly get Luai .. ?? Big decision we have .. we have in the past let players go cause our club didn't think they were good enough for the NRL: the Fox, Ryan Papenhuyzen, Tevita (Junior) Tatola, Taniela Paseka .. and of course we kept Brooks over Moses .. so we have a good history of making mistakes .. :-(

I don’t think there’s anyway we can keep bula, TDS, Api, Galvin, Luai, sullivan and fainu for the next 3 years if we sign Luai for $1.1.

Have to give up at least sullivan and either Galvin or fainu. If you want to keep luai, bulla and a gun Hooker.

And from all reports TDS is like the best thing in our juniors too.

I don’t know how it all stacks

Usually you get to keep 3 gun spine players at best!!!
3 gun spine players at best??? The rorters haven't done that for as long as I can remember???

There’s a good article on Foxsports saying AFB is great mates with the Fainu brothers which, combined with his relationship with Fulton, *should* give us a leg up on the dragons and bulldogs for his signature.
Its a given. Expect a signing any day. You heard it here first. AFB . No BSH

Is that a recipe for future off field troubles, AFB and the Fainu brothers, hopefully wests tigers aren't top story on the 6pm news

Pretty sure Benji has come out and stated Galvin is one of the players who the club intend to build around in a few years.

Da Silva shouldn't be a worry. He's 18 so you'd have to think he's no chance of being ready to carry the load as a starting first grade hooker for another couple of years at least - by which stage Koroisau will be right at the end of his deal. Harry Grant is the best young hooker in the game and his first season in first grade was the one on loan at the Tigers, when he was 22. If all goes well with Da Silva there's a natural succession in place.

Bula seems to have fullback locked down. So we're talking about halves, and specifically the idea that we'd only be able to play two of Luai, Galvin, Sullivan and Fainu. I'm not sure about that, though. All three of Sullivan, Galvin and Fainu are unproven at first grade level and the latter two are also 18, so you'd have to think there's a very good chance at least one of them will either never make the step up or will be injury prone, sign elsewhere after their current contract or any number of other potential pitfalls. Fainu and Galvin are also both 18 so should have reasonable expectations about game time over the next couple of years.

I also suspect Sullivan is somewhat the odd man out. He's on a fairly reasonable contract that would make him not widly overpaid as an X-factor utility off the bench in a good side whereas, on the flip side, he probably has the least up side of all of them.

By the time we get to 2026, when Da Silva, Fainu and Galvin might actually be reasonably thinking about locking down full-time starting jobs I would be pretty shocked to find that we have Bula-Luai-Sullivan-Koroisau as a bolted on starting spine with no question marks at all. And, frankly, if we do I'd suggest we have played finals football at least once and we're probably not too bothered about the 'logjam'.

Good post. Galvin could also play centre as many good 5/8s have done in the past.
