Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We seem short on halves too ?
We have Sezer, Sullivan, Fainu and Galvin, but our NSW Cup halves from 2023 have departed and I haven’t yet seen who we have signed to replace them ?
There must be a possibility that either one of Sullivan, Fainu or Galvin spends some time as our NRL number 14, so we definitely need more halves.
PLEASE NO

We seem short of halves, but have: Sezer, Sullivan, Fainu and Galvin!
CMON!

If those 4 get injured Benji can become Captain/Coach for all I care.

There are NRL Players that jammed a busted glass into a womans face
and went on to represent their state and country...

When and who was that?!
Agree it would have been a stretch...
I wanted him on a T&T a few weeks ago
but just checked out his wrap sheet...
bad news. A lot of gronks in the NRL

I'm worried if Isaac Moses is trying to off load Galvin to another club like Penrith already.

That would suck.

Means we basically have one year to prove to the kid that he should stay with us.

He's got two years left i think. right?
He just started his 3 year deal and loves the club and Benji.

So long as he's getting opportunities, not getting rushed (or held back) he'll be happy.

Was four years ago. The person, now board member, was made redundant for poor performance and used to take a lot of cigarette breaks. Agree people can change/improve over time. But there were plenty of WTs fans at this workplace and to say we were horrified by that board appointment would be an understatement.
Julie should be gone soon enough.

Too bad if come Round 1 with no pre season training & conditioning that we throw Luai into the deep end and he busts his shoulder again and is out for the year. Oh, so leave him recouping along with Doohey until he gets better? Nah! Let him rehab at Penrith.
Penrith have the best rehab crew in the NRL. They have barely had any serious injuries other than Taylan May (ACL) in the past 4 years. Let Luai recover there and fire up for the 2025 season!

A few of those boys from that Heralded junior side look under-done to me....
I'd have though Mearsy would have had em on the sandhills...

Still babies though, Being our whole squad looks behind the 8 ball fitness wise, Is a bit scary...
I'd hope it's all on the up...
Based on what exactly??

You've watched a lot of our preseason training sessions have you?

All this talk of player swaps for Luai- I’d be happy if he came in ‘25.
I’m actually more interested in us getting AFB. Landing him would really improve our pack in all the areas we were found wanting this season.
The way I see it is Luai is the signing we need to become a force. He hasn't hit his peak and has been restricted at penrith. AFB just had his best year with Warriors and might have a lean year this year. I think Bulldogs need AFB more than Luai, and we need Luai more than AFB to teach the young halves coming through and be a leader, potentially captain. AFB being good mates with the Fainu brothers at Manly is certainly interesting though as well as Luai's close relationship with Benji from All Stars

What's the go with Solo Saukuru? Is he a chance of playing 1st grade this year?
Physically looks very big and rangey, perfect build for a modern day centre.
I think his career starts now, and i see him playing a fair bit of first grade too. His size, speed and skillset sets him aside and we have very very few outside backs coming through. Really just him, Feledy and Lobb. If he applies himself and works his ass off he'll get a shot.

Thus far he's largely played in loser teams that get pumped, hopefully when in better company he shows more resolve and urgency.

Given we've given the likes of Talau and Kepaoa game time in the centres i have Solo well ahead of those two in terms of talent and physique. But it will be what's between his ears that makes or breaks him. Again given Kepaoa has nothing in his head hopefully Solo jumps him in the backup backs queue for 2024. I'd have him ahead of Feledy for now based solely on size speed and versatility (he's played some wing, fullback and in the forwards) whereas Josh is quite small and really purely a centre.

I'm speculating purely on common sense here & how the politics of rugby league management works. This is what I think Benji & Fulton are quietly baking ...

Luai (coming for '25)
AFB (coming for '25)
Haumole (coming for '26, will push for a trade to get him for '25)

Klemmer (will try to find a club to take contract for '25 onwards)
Bateman (will try to find a club to take contract for '25 onwards)

Klemmer & Bateman are both Isaac Moses clients so it continues that cleanout.

The core of the undefeated Wests Magpies Harold Matts team from last year will try to be retained to build that pathways camaredie within the top 30 (similar model to Penrith) ... Da Silva, Galvin, Miller, Kit Laulilii, Luke Laulilii, Mason, Solo Saukuru, Will Craig.

Then will try to do the same with the key players in the age group below (Large brothers, Makasini, Isdale etc).

As it stands that is Betseys responsibility. Benji’s focus should be a win rd 1.

He was accused of glassing his girlfriend... he was found guilty but subsequently acquitted on appeal when his girlfriend supported his version of self-defence...

Last post and back on topic...

What a load of shit. Try that with a legal
aid lawyer and you go straight to jail like
monopoly. They got money and get off.
Clubs support their players, not the victim.
Glassing a woman? That's the craziest shit.
Pretty sure DV laws have changed since
then I beleive. Victim can't recant, nor can
they request for the case to be dropped

Agree, the problem with our player swaps is that no other team wants our weakest players. The way our forwards played in the last few games looked like coach had told them to get creative and show us your footy skills. Klem and Stef played as per usual but others started goose stepping and passing. Were we hoping they catch the eye of someone like Cleary or Bellamy? 😂
