Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Just sack him for not fulfilling his paid duties.
I wish

Man Benji doesn't need this. That said, it may help make him with the squad. If he can fire Nofo, he can fire anyone.

Ofcourse the contract will have all sorts of BS clauses and excuses written. Nofo will claim WT in breach of contract and that we should pay up.

Naturally some may just say "give him a golden handshake"... Sadly that means 2 years + 500k cap space just lost on nothing.

When people criticise Lee H, the fair critcism is about this deal.

Totally. I think some of the criticism of Lee H is way OTT but the Nofo deal was all down to him if the stories are correct. Nofo is a totally flawed character on nearly double what he's worth. This was a totally dud deal.

Nofo played with Benji.
He probably doesn't see Benji as an authority figure but more akin to a peer.

Especially given his lack of experience in the role and the fact he hasn't earned it but was handed the job because of his status.

Not saying Nofo is in the right because he's a cultural cancer that needs to go, but his status as a club legend doesn't necessarily mean people respect him as an authority.

Out of all people as a Tigers player, you would want to play for? Surley its Benji?
Agreed.

If Nofo is acting like this he has to go.

I was watching a school for the "worst of the worst" students. The first thing a former principle does is fire 1 student. People said it was unfair and the principle targetted him, Maybe. Heck probably. But by kicking that one person out it set the tone for the rest.

Nofo has put his hand up, ok Benji can chop it off.

Heck I would much rather this demonstrated with Nofo then anyone else at the club like Klemmer/Koroisau/etc. Even if we just pay him out, do it. Do it for the team.

More than anything, the hypocrisy of Nofo is amazing. No self reflection there. ''Í know better than the coaching and fitness staff, team standards and expectations are for others not me, Im special and should be respected to do my own thing''. Geez, I'd sack him if he continues to slack off at training and not perform to standards and expectations- surely there is something on contracts about team standards and fitness. In the interim he is given message until he can reach standards expected he is slated for reserve grade or he can request a release- with no $$$ compensation- and try his luck elsewhere.

Edit- if he requests a release I'd relent with a one time offer- minimum NRL wage payout of contract $150k p.a. If he doesnt take it, no $$$ contribution.

Not trying to call you out here but you keep
plagiarising comments from reddit what's
the deal bro? It's not all about 'likes' y'know lol

Man, what are we doing.
We chased OLAM, ready to do a swap with Blore. Blore who has spent most of his 3 years injured.

Now we let Olam go, Blore signs with the Storm anyway and we get next to nothing out of it.

Oh yea were "chasing" Luai and AFB after hiring 3 halves....

Klemmer must feel that were like a Manic Depressive girlfriend. "hey honey I want you so Much, come here now... NO... COME HERE NOW OR WE ARE THROUGH...Okay I am here... Nah don't want you anymore?"

Can we please have squad plans that last longer then 3 months? Our backs SUCK but hey lets chase halves and Forwards till our cap is spent.
Blore has signed for the Storm for 2025, which is when he becomes a free agent. We were in no position to "get anything out of it" - if Blore thinks somewhere else is a better option WHEN HE'S OFF CONTRACT that's totally his decision and his current club has zero leverage. If we want to see if anyone wants to swap for him FOR 2024 that's still an option, assuming he's interested in doing it.

As far as I am aware there are two recruitment structures. The first is more common in American sports where the head of the recruitment is more or less entirely responsible for the roster and the coach just coaches. The theory behind this is coaches only plan for now (rightly so, their job is dependent on current success) whereas list managers plan long-term. This doesn't happen much in NRL though I know Dragons had this set up for a while several years ago.
The 2nd, which is the NRL way, the coach is the lead voice in the first grade roster with the recruitment team acting as advisors and ensuring cap compliance. The main role of the recruitment team is pathway talent. Despite what one things of the first grade coach they could certainly sell the pathways and have a high opinion of the development coaches. The thought is there isn't much need to scout existing first graders as they are typically a known commodity which coaches already research. The coaches however don't spend much time studying the lower grades.
So...
In my opinion Fulton appears to be doing a decent enough job in recruiting lower grade players. He does have a proven talent to do so in his time at Manly. He probably has little say in the first grade side apart from being an advisor.
However he should shut up about negative opinions of the head coach or other aspects of the club and should be punted if he can not learn to do so. I'm not in any rush to see him gone though and would prefer he and Benji be given every chance to work things out unless there is a clear better option to take his place.
Good insights!

Nof kicking stones get him out of the joint quick smart, he's not that good to warrant putting up with his poor attitude. Big test for Benji now going to the RLPA is a big step almost untenable for him to stay.
Yeah…so we’ll have to pay him out and get nothing in return most likely as no one wants his contract.

Any truth to Nofo whinging about preseason training, punt him asap. Use him as an example and to set the tone for the rest of the players that this is what's required to wear the Tigers jursey now. Fancy running to the players association because pre season training is too hard. What a cat. If the RLPA say anything we need to tell them to get stuffed aswell.

If you actually read the story, it becomes a little clearer. He hasn't been at training "since Wednesday" and had a meeting at the club on Thursday evening, at which he agreed to come back to training on Monday.

In other words, he didn't show up on Thursday and got called in for a please explain. I'm not sure what went down at that meeting - it could be anything from an arm round the shoulder to an almighty bollocking with a threat of the sack. But whatever it was, Nofoaluma has obviously backed down.

You can't generally fire someone for not turning up to work once, so I'm not really sure what else the club could have done. For all we know he's on a written warning and strict KPIs, which is about the most they could legally do.
