WT Ownership, The Board & Senior Management - MEGA Thread

Schadenfreude is never nice to bask in, but remember all the times Lee would belittle all supporters who weren’t members? Like they were shit on the bottom of his shoe? That’s why I’m laughing this afternoon. And the fact he seemed oblivious by blowharding on the radio this morning is icing. It’s a joy when bad things happen to bad people.

I don’t even know that’s true. Usually it would be a massive call for a club to do this all in one go, but this lot were so incompetent that it can’t put us in a worse position. The optics probably aren’t great, but who cares. They deserved to be outed this way.
It's a big call because they've knifed themselves. They could have ignored the fans and the results until the end of time.

You don't usually get a group of people, who have held power for a long time, willing to step down for the good of the organisation.

I for one am a bit shocked that the board actually decided to step down. There's always an element of doubt, incompetence and self-entitlement with them but kudos, they have embraced the report thus far and should be applauded for doing so.

I do however think we need someone new from both Balmain and Wests. Stapleton and Burgess have failed for over a decade. That failure is extreme and undeniable. They were a part of the problem and a clean slate is required. If 50% of the new board were on the old one then that's quite concerning, especially with a HBG appointee as the 3rd. It would still essentially be the same people making the decisions at the club!
I don't know, with 4 independents they lose their guaranteed voting block. So they aren't making the sole decisions any longer, they have to convince independents to vote with them.

It's probably unrealistic to remove all appointees, even for the sake of continuity you need to have people with intimate experience / knowledge of previous operations.

Even if they resisted, they would have been punted. They hold no power to appoint themselves. Nice that they left graciously rather than creating another topic in the papers.

Where did you see about Burgess staying? He’s gone from what they’ve posted. I don’t think the Magpies will choose him again to represent them.

Do you need continuity and famililarity if the previous operation was a disaster? Someone new making their own conclusions is more valuable in my view. Barry was also chair before Lee so would be familiar. If the people who were on the board are the ones choosing the independents then that still raises a red flag of sorts. But until the full makeup of the board is known it's hard to know how to feel. What if they choose Lee and Andreacchio as independents?

Got to give some credit to the board. Regardless of how overdue this decision is...

It takes a lot in life, in love, in business, in rugby league, to take a step back and say, "I'm the problem."

They could have easily used Lee and Pascoe as scapegoats. But for all of them to finally fall on their swords and do what is in the best interests of the club and not the individual board members themselves is commendable.

I live overseas, so I don't get much value out of having a membership. But I think I'll rejoin as a vote of faith in the direction that the club is going in.

This is a huge day for our club and the most important period in its history.

It hasn't been announced yet, you're right. But he's the Magpies chair, are they really going to vote against him? I certainly hope they bring in someone new...

Big call by the owners and hopefully the start of a new direction.

Personally the thing I am most pleased about is we've now changed everything, literally: the board, CEO, coach... half of the players are new. The logo was updated last year. Centre of Excellence. Home Ground plan has changed for 2024.

So whatever your opinion was about "X is the problem", we need to now have a few seasons for these changes to bed-in and come up with novel complaints, if the club continues to lack success.

So glad to be done with the #PascoeOut and #LeeOut diatribes.
Maybe the logo was right but will hold back all the other changes.
Really don't think that has much difference
