Wests Tigers Podcast - Hosted by Helmsey&Eddie.

Thinking we will make the finals next year and setting a goal to make the finals next year are two different things.
I agree with the assessment that if you are talking SMART goals, then coming 8th should be the target.
Specific = Yes. A target has been chosen.
Measurable = Yes. NRL ladder
Attainable = Yes. We lost 8 games by 6 or less this year. Turn that around and we’re up there.
Realistic = Yes. Our halves are better than last year, our fullback more experienced and our pack will be better after another preseason together.
Timely = Yes. The end date is known (6th September).

Do I think it will happen?
No.
I just shift that same goal to 2025.

I could write a novel on why it’s not realistic but will just leave it at this. Every time we take the field our opposition will have more attacking threats. And historically we don’t defend well.

I’ll revise this somewhat if we sign Luai.

None of our halves were NRL first graders in 2023.

As I said on the pod I'd be looking to get out of the bottom 5. Our squad is still really poor.
To get out of the bottom 5 this year, we would have required 12 wins.
To get into the 8 this year, we would have required 14 wins.
2018 was the last time we hit figures like that.
Double figure number of wins seems a fair way off…I’d be happy enough to record that.

You don’t need a novel. They have to work harder.

Not about work. When I refer to attacking threats I’m talking about guys with god given gifts. Jahreem has shown me flashes but outside of that the others just don’t have it in them. Bottom four roster unfortunately.

I trust Richo and Benji are already working on it.

It’s always about work.
Sullivan, Bula, Tupou, Naden, Toa, Staines etc can all attack…on occasion. They need to do it regularly enough for us to win games off the good work generally done by the pack.

Most of those players named, some of them granted are young, have been wildly inconsistent and mostly below par first grade players. I’m talking about guns. 🔫 🔫 prove me wrong blokes.

The outside backs that played last year leaked tries … they were the worst in the comp…

I havent seen much player change that leads me to think this will be different this year … unless a couple of the unknown young guys can take a massive leap, Toa turns up more once a year and Staines doesn’t get injured again…

Well done @Joel Helmes the crew and thanks to all who signed the petition.

Great 24 hours for the club.

careful of the fame guys. Hookers don’t really love you and do not, I repeat do not make any important decisions on blow. It may be seem like the best idea ever but wait a day or two before actioning it.

Good luck and god bless.

Gaz. You should really take it easy on poor Steve. Your strength is your statesmanship. Give peace a chance.

Seriously though, can you get Dennis Spicer on the pod? I reckon that would go viral.

I agree, but nobody can predict how much talented young players can improve from one season to the next.
Will Bula remain somewhere between 11-17 in terms of NRL fullback talent or will he go to the next level and become a top 10 or even maybe top 5 ranked in terms of NRL fullback ability ?
Will Bud Sullivan, Latu Fainu or maybe even Lachlan Galvin become ready to regularly star at NRL level ?
Will big Stef, Pole and Samuela Fainu show 10 or 20 percent improvement which would make them formidable NRL players ?
Can Sezer’s body stand up to the vigours of week to week NRL and does he still have enough speed to be an attacking threat ?
Can we get much more out of Ice and Bateman ?
Do we have enough talent in our outside backs to compete strongly each week, be a regular attacking threat and get the job done defensively?

We all aboard the permanent move to Campbo boys?
SMH reckon it's in the review and you boys did say you'd support the review. Richo loves the idea.
All aboard the Campbo. Express.
Choooo Chooooo

In the right environment our current squad can do well next year and get well in a few years.
