Scott Fulton sacked

Is Betsy not a candidate to take on that role long term?
I guess it depends what his aspirations are. He's a juniors guru, ideally he stays there and we recruit a GM Football who really knows their stuff and the two work together in tandem. But if he really wants to take that step up then maybe it would be necessary to promote him to keep him in the system.

Keeping his mouth shut like a Chairman is supposed to…
lol, he’s not as ‘in your face’ as the previous guy, that’s for sure. Just thought we would have heard from him by now? Maybe ? I realise he would have a lot on his plate, but the club has never been good at taking supporters with them on he journey to success and stardom, just thought things may have improved since the review?

Reading between the lines.

When we pulled the offer to AFB. Richo said "I will never sign a player the coach doesn't want".

It's now reported that Fulton led the negotiations with AFB.

Sounds like Fulton wanted AFB but Benji did not.
The previous administration didn’t realise that simple fundamental, the coach needs to be able to coach a player and the players need to be coachable.
I thought Richo’s statement was kinda correcting a wrong, righting the ship so to speak?

If that were true (doubtful), wouldn’t they be concerned that the Fainu’s will now spit the dummy? Seems counterproductive.
Why would there be concerns that the Fainus would spit the dummy? They’re grown men aren’t they?
my point was, as Richo explained so succinctly, a person should never be beholding to a player manager. But here we were secretly rushing the signing of Fulton through in the dead of night because he would (via his agent of course) sign some stars on big money.
I hope the boys do well and live up to their (new) price tag.

I don’t need to hear from him …particularly in the middle of the offseason…

Maybe he can do one of those fluffy podcast things around end of Feb… and then he can go back to staying out of the limelight the way most other clubs seem to operate

Would we swap Latu Fainu to gain Jerome Luai for 2024 ?
I know I would g as I want Latu Fainu to remain playing for Wests Tigers long term, wouldn’t be surprised if Panthers throw that out as an option.

If Betsey goes back to Pathways (he is only Interim) I get a sneaky feeling it opens the door to reestablish the original 5-year plan of Sheens-Marshall.

Is there any history with Richardson-Sheens? I think they might have done some work in England together??

They won’t throw anything out as an option. They won’t release him early.

Why is everyone forgetting Jett Cleary?
He's 18 (Apparently) 19 this year, Playing SG Ball last year
Although Penrith keeping him well under wraps - Hard to find anything on him much....
Deliberately being held back.

He's basically the same age as the kids we're talking about swapping for Luai...
They don't need to swap Luai for a kid - They've got their next kid....

And in better news, He knows the Current 7 really well and is managed by his mum and dad
(Who's also the Coach)

It looks like they didn’t. Reinforced by the hiring of Fulton without consulting the coaches.

Everything that has happened since blowing up the board has reinforced that it was the right call.

Hope Richo stays to see it all through.

To earn his payout? I don’t think he would be too keen.

If we released Latu Fainu to them from 2024 onwards, they would release Luai to us for 2024 in a heartbeat.
As I’ve previously stated, I wouldn’t even consider it as I believe Latu Fainu is an elite NRL player in waiting.

No, that would be an awful decision.

Keep strengthening the squad, don’t give up a good young player because we’re impatient.

Look at Melbourne, they’re willing to give up a 30 year old outside back to get Blore early. No mention of any players they don’t want to lose.

Why would we want to do that given we have him for 25? Just relax and have some patience.
I would not release Latu Fainu under any circumstances, I’m just stating I believe Penrith would release Luai ti us early if we did.
I suppose that’s justifying how good a prospect Latu Fainu is and he’s currently signed with us for 4 years, so I’m more than happy waiting to get Luai in 2025.

I’d prefer he didn’t do ‘one of those fluffy podcast things’ at all. Just tell us what the state of play is and where the club is headed, and how the club plans to get there. I’m not a fan of the bull dust, but would like to see someone getting shit done, doing good shit and making shit happen. 😜
