Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Nofo raising the white flag and complaining to the RLPA about our training intensity is going to deter a lot of clubs from signing him, St George included.

they are a rather stupid club, but it comes down to whether Flanno would back himself to get Nofoaluma back to his best.

Noffa is talented and a good player when he can get his headspace right.

There may be some clubs that believe that it could be fixed by simply taking him out of the Tigers.

Apart from his lazy attitude,I think Nofa has lost considerable speed which was very apparent in his stint at Storm where they actually make line breaks and he went missing
Like Brooks,a parting of the ways may be mutually beneficial.?but he's shown nothing to attract suitors
..and meanwhile,sitting on a fat contract

I agree, he can play, he just chooses not to. and he should be able to play until his mid 30s, as his biggest asset is his finishing ability and ability to bend the line (when he isn’t running sideways).

like you say there’s every chance someone just blames it on the WT system, but personally I think his attitude is too far gone. hopefully a rival club doesn’t think so.

yea, ah...

Honestly how the hell did that happen?
I mean seriously we went from 0 halfbacks and 2-3 5/8's...
to us signing:
Sezer
Sullivan
Fainu
along with Galvin in the lower grades....

Then long comes Luai....

I honestly don't get how St George could let Sullivan go.
And to think we let Alex Conti go too

few selection headaches in the backline at the minute. right centre and left wing seem to be the two up for grabs in first grade. I've got Alaimalo as a first grade bolter, personally I don't believe Lobb is as close to first grade as others think. talented but has his issues defensively and struggles with making metres. I think the Cup backline looks like this.

1. Naden
2. Lobb
3. Faataape
4. Tupou
5. Casey/Nofoaluma
Gordon whippy

What's your point...

Nofo needs to go, his attitude is Crap and that will reflect on the team.

Mbye was stupidly overpaid, yes I was screaming here "NO NO NO!". Man we should do a wall of shame to those who were in favour of his signing.... I still cannot believe we could have signed both Morris brothers or Mbye.... Guess who we choose. *facepalm*

For all the Mbye bashing, if he was a 200k player he would have been a goodish signing. Not a fullback, but as a center he can move the ball along.

Musgrave was a punt by us on an unwanted Souths player.

Liddle was another "great big hope", oddly enough we are seeing Liddle outperform mbye at St george...whatever that says.

I can't really say any of these players are good for their clubs... Taane Milne would be the player that needed the change and is doing very well at Souths.

Nofo just needs to go. Yes I do blame our club mainly because of our stupid mismanagement of him. I always found it cruel that Cronulla would happily throw wingers away, but with Nofo we should have let him roam ages ago.
My point is Dragons are a perfect place for Nofo

The love our rejects

I am glad to see a few have woken up to the fact that advertising his attitude problems isn’t going to make him the easiest guy to offload.

How is Taane Milne relevant?

He signed with us with zero due diligence by the Tigers - or open disclosure from the player that he had two previous positive cocaine tests.

Recorded a third strike positive test in the off-season with the Tigers and was subject to a mandatory 12 week suspension so we sacked him - and he spent a season at Mounties before Souths threw him a lifeline!
Always liked his ability to find the line.

Assuming Turuva & Best have knocked us back for now, who do we see us targeting in the backline? Options are limited and I believe the best of what is available is:

* Isaiah Tass
* Nick Cotric
* Taylan May
* Tesi Niu

Maybe Kayal Iro? anyone else we might potentially look at?

I think much will depend on what our backs do this year. If we still can’t score points we’ll need to aim higher than that bunch. Hopefully Olam, Bula and Staines can provide a much more potent attack outside the new halves. The jury is out.

I agree that those 3 have the highest chance of playing well for us moving forward, if we can get the most out of them our job becomes a lot easier.

I think a Lomax or Saab would immediately make us a way more dangerous team but I think they both have signed at their current clubs until the end of 26.

Joey Manu would be high on my wish list, rumours are he’s going to rugby. Hopefully Benji has a plan.

I think there is a bunch of potential talent in our outside backs.

I also think, with investment through FA & our young players coming through that the forwards, halves & fullback positions are now comparable to all the other NRL sides.

Currently the quality of our wingers & centres is based MOSTLY on potential. But, in my opinion, any single one could either rise up & become a regular starter, or be removed with little impact. Staines, Nofa, To'a, Tupou...these guys were starters last year.

But if Olam, Doueihi, Lobb & the rugby guy were our starters by the season's end- would ANYONE be really shocked? Naden comes into consideration. Even Casey is a decent shot. Hell- Luke Lualili'i could ACTUALLY be the bolter.

Talent puts all the players in the mix. I believe you can find a suitable mix of starters from the group- even if it's not the ones we (the obvious experts) believe are the picks as of today.

Lastly- physical ability- size, speed, height, strength....very hard to teach that. And the club has invested in big bodies.

I saw he was off contract the other day and thought maybe we should give it a crack. I just really doubt it though, I feel like he would really only leave the roosters for rugby. I can't see us giving more than 850k to a centre anyway and I don't think he would leave Roosters for that either. I'm sure many other teams would outbid us at that price point too. If we have a chance though we should definitely be trying.
