OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

this is correct. Fainu, I believe, is our long term 7 well after Luai leaves. I think Sullivan is the odd man out and Galvin will either move to the back row or move clubs.

Fainu's got a little work to do in terms of game management and long kicking game, but he possesses everything else to become a premier 7. he's a little like Mitchell Moses in that he has always played 6 coming thru, but 7 is his spot. Onitoni will eventually partner him at the scrumbase when Luai retires.
It wouldn't surprise me to see Onitoni play centre well into his career (whilst serving as back-up 5/8th) as Galvin firms for the 6 spot outside Fainu.

Latu and Lachie will be ~ 23 at the conclusion of Jerome's tenure, provided he doesn't play on, so in my opinion, the largest hurdle, other than ensuring they develop properly, isn't fitting them in, but hanging onto them until this phase where they should be primed to take over following Luai's contract.

Very speculative of course, but long-term plans are always that way.

it's a fair opinion, but I actually think Sullivan's running game is his biggest asset, whereas Latu's best asset is his passing and short kicking game. the issue with Bud is ensuring his hamstrings are in good knick. again though I just don't think he has the talent of Large, Fainu and Galvin, although he is a 200 game first grader himself.

it's a good shout on Onitoni, but like you say I think Bula has the 1 locked up for as long as he wants it. I'd expect Onitoni to play centre for the majority of his first few years but he might fill in at fullback or in the halves if there was an injury. the hardest part is going to be keeping all of these guys happy.
We're singing from the same songsheet, jr.

Kit Laulili'i or Chris Fa'agutu will lock down the 13, of that I have no doubt. it may even happen towards the end of this year. both skilful ballplayers who can bend the line and whack their opposition in defence.

Galvin is better suited to the edge because his best asset is terrorising the three and four man. his ability to bite deep into the line and take the right option is world-class. playing him at lock increases his workload and mitigates his biggest strength.
Inshallah!

You could be right and it will be very interesting to see how they all develop over the next couple of years.
My personal opinion is that Sullivan is the only natural halfback within the group, the others are all very good ball runners who I think are better suited to 5/8 rather than worrying too much about controlling the team.
Although he’s never played there as far as I’m aware, I believe Onitoni Large would make a brilliant fullback, maybe he will have to settle on playing centre if Bula nails down our number 1 jersey.
I'm with you... Bula is a gifted athlete and will only get better, however; Large "my opinion" will surpass him by age 18 and become our version "Slater / Tedesco" and Bula will end up being an NSW / Australian centre.

As I have previously stated if Galvin is our starting 6 we are screwed. Comparing him to a young Fittler is like comparing Wakeham to Joey Johns. He has never played against men and will get buried and shit the bed, I don't know if he is even up for KOE at this stage of his career.

It's a bit premature to say things like this when neither of those 3 have played first grade yet. If I remember correctly Sullivan had similar sort of praise when he was coming through the grades.
it’s a fair point you raise, I’m just going off what I’ve seen in the lower grades up to this point. Sullivan can play, but I just don’t think he possesses the ability of the others.

nothing is ever certain until you see them play against men in first grade, of course. but Galvin is the most decorated schoolboy since David Fifita, Fainu was given an exemption to play SG Ball at 16 and Large was taking the piss in First XV Rugby as a 15 year old and is already doing an NRL preseason.

Sullivan had an incredible SG Ball season when he led Illawarra to a premiership, and while I do think he will play NRL for many years, unfortunately I feel he is the least likely to stay around, simply because of the calibre of talent we have coming thru.

To date.....Fainu>Sullivan
and Fainu > Galvin

Its possible Galvin will grow into a position but Fainu already has experience at leading a team from 7 at Cup level.
Are we upsetting people? My Turn

Fainu hasn't played first grade. So hey HUGE wraps are on the kid, but he hasn't proven himself at NRL first grade.

Sullivan has at least driven a team to 16th! As a rookie, that's something, not great, but as a rookie something.

Fainu, Galvin are all unproven quantities. Till they take the field and play at least 5 first grade games we don't know what we are dealing with.

Makes perfect sense CC.

all true..but between the lot of them were going to get at least one quality NRL partner for Luai going forward surely!
Then he subsequently becomes a million dollar player, which is perfectly fine as we\ll have a pair of quality halves(incl Luai) which is something we haven't had for yonks.Sets us up until the end of this decade.
Always a numbers game ,and coaching plays a huge role, but this time the odds are very much stacked in OUR favor

Gee I just read we have the next tedesco/slater

Do we have any takers for the next Brett kenny/wally lewis

How's about Big Mal?
I remember when Sheens compared Rowdy to Laurie Daley and Simon Dwyer to Bradley Clyde. Didn’t mind a comparison old Sheensy.
